Looks like post oak..... worthless for lumber but makes super farwood!

 

Why is that?

 

It warps & cracks something awful & is a pain in the _ _ _ _ to mill, but it splits easy and has great BTU rating.

 

Oh, ok. I think I milled some back in the early '80's, with dad's mobile dimension sawmill. Guy wanted 12/4 lowboy decking...yep, it was PITA...

Then some old friends are stopping by for a visit. Moving some things for our son later.

Morning all. We are the road today. Headed for Parry Sound for the weekend. Yesterday was our first hot day which ended with a thunderstorm and rain. Everything is wet this morning. Because the site was level and we weren't going anywhere, we were able to leave the units hooked up. Just have to drop our grey and black tanks and be off. The wind yesterday made it easier to escape the mosquitos.

He was quite the player to watch. I think we will give it a miss though.

 

Morning all. Cooler here and not quite so many mosquitoes. Taking the dog out at 4:00 AM isn't too bad. I just have to remember to wear a hat as my thin spare hair doesn't cover my head very well.
Laundry, chores and may be sightseeing tonight. We have booked a three hour cruise through some of the 30,000 islands in Georgian Bay for Sunday. I hope the weather is good. I hope to post more pictures later today.

The unit next door had a campfire last night and I thought "oh no. the smoke is going to come right in the kitchen window." Nope, they were burning scrap dimensional wood and it was dry and very little smoke. Also, the breeze was away from the trailer. So I got to enjoy the fire while making dinner.
