It does lead zinc smelting from ores mined locally, provincially, US states and other countries. Here is a link Teck Cominco smelter - Wikipedia.
This is the good stuff. Enjoy it. Now this is a Canadian photo if I've ever seen one! Tim's, CT and Marks. lol
Made it to Medicine Hat, Alberta. We visited with campinspecter oldest sibling, his sister of 91 years. View of the next 2000 kilometers With some shelter belts protecting buildings Don't see these in a car lot on the west coast. Reminds of the song John Deere Green by Joe Diffie The rest of the offerings One of many grain elevators so I had to take a picture of at least one. Mom loves trains so I was able to catch this one. It is hauling grain to Vancouver, BC port. Medicine Hat sits in a bit of a hollow. Our campsite is on a hill overlooking the area. This is the drive into the campsite. I think this subdivision is on the outskirts of the main part of town.
Probably trivial to those who live there...I'd love to go to a Canadian Tire and have a look around. Of curiosity (I have a Taco also), what tow mirrors are those?
Canadian Tire has the most wonderful things in it. It is our go to store. campinspecter doesn't know the brand of mirrors we bought from Traveland RV when we bought the RV. I will have a look and see if there is a name on them.
I am enjoying your adventures. Beautiful scenic pictures. It looks like it is still very cool where you have been. Roads look to be well taken care of.
Prairie roads take quite a beating during the winter time so some of them are not as great as they could be.
I was sad to see Tim Hortons leave our area. They came in and had two stores in this town, but then all of a sudden, they closed up. Crispy Cream came, and they were not here but a year when they left the state. We have Dunkin doughnuts all over the place.
campinspecter found a link on Amazon for the type of mirrors we have. The link shows square mirrors instead of the teardrop ones we have.
Kenora, Ontario is where we are tonight. Left earlier than yesterday morning. Peanut Hills campground was our spot in Moose Jaw. Yes, it was beside the highway and a train siding was behind us but it was actually quite quiet. they were nice size spots and we had a field behind us. Shadow never saw the bunny or the gophers but she could smell them. Packing up to leave on Sunday. More kilometers/miles of flat prairie Train tracks beside the road. Not as many oil well pumps along the southern road. There were the only ones I took pictures of. Oh look! There is a train. Still flat prairie Nearing the Manitoba/Ontario border. More hills and trees. Evidence of the Canadian Shield starting to show up. I missed pictures of some really neat rock formations. Lake of the Woods outside of Kenora, Ontario View of the Lake of the Woods from our camp site.
In this post with the pics of the Rocky mountains..... in a blink, the song by the "Byrds" - "Blue Canadian Rockies" from way back, like the 70's popped into my head instantly. What a great journey to be on! Thanks for the pictures.
Thank you. They looked to be not too obtrusive/gangly. I don't have need for a set currently, but you never know. Should have been pretty easy towing across the flats after crossing the Rockies. Hope you two are enjoying the trip! When I was younger, all I wanted to do was drive...everywhere. Had planned a USA loop after HS graduation, but ended up at one of the tourist traps with classmates instead. I'm not a big traveller but when I travel I like to do it big.
Some of the prairie roads were quite rough. A lot of maintenance going on to repair winter damage. It was nice to have mainly four lanes to drive on though so we could set our own pace.
