Hi Everybody. I'm new here just thought I'd post a pic of some ash logs I gathered last fall from our northern Michigan property. Gonna to be cuttin it up this spring and hauling it home to sell/use. This is the first of several stacks I need to gather.

Welcome! They are all telephone pole straight. Nothing like scoring a big pile of ash.

Thank you all. The trees are really tall and REALLY hard to keep out of other trees. I'm amazed at how good a 3" limb will hold up a tree!

What a great stack of logs, stunning! Do you have a tractor n grapple, how do you get them stacked? Do you skid them out with a tractor? Sorry the EAB got them. Great first post.

Hey markf , Glad to make your acquaintance! Great looking logs and perfect size. Is there any market for saw logs like that? Hope to see lots more posts and pictures. Again, Welcome! Russ

Thanks. I was using a home made carry all on the Ford at first. Then I forged up a pair of "log dogs"(what I call them) to use with the loader on the John Deere. I skidded them out with the tractor and skidding winch. I would like to get a grapple or forks to make stacking a bit faster.

Thank you. I wondered if there was a market also for them but was informed mills don't like them once they have been dead a while. I guess it's hard on the saw teeth?

    Welcome to the forum markf.

Looks like we are not far apart although I rarely get over that way.

Welcome to the forum. What county is the property? Those are in decent shape for as long as we have had EAB in MI.

The property is in Emmet county. These trees just recently were killed by the EAB. There are still a few live white ash on the property although they are showing signs of trouble. It seems to have have taken a while to get to that area. At home I was cutting up dead ones in 2006.

That pile of logs is a thing of beauty!! Sad to see the Ash trees dying off, but at least you will make good use of them.
