Swapped the snowblower and lawn mower in/out of seasonal storage. Removed the blade and ran a hand file over the business end. While off, I scraped and wire brushed under the deck. A little gas, a couple of easy pulls before one good pull and I fired up. Should be good for another season.
still no warm weather here as yet. anxious to wheel outside and sit in the sun without the cool wind. I am sure that later on I will be wanting it to cool down. Just the way it is.
The deck rack was removed this morning. Lots of wood debris left behind. There's still some wood easily accessible on the deck. Ready for coffee in the morning. The deck faces west. Too hot out there once the sun comes around. Definitely a sign of spring here!
My rack is still on the porch. It goes where the pool ladder and pump are stored. The switch will happen in about 2 weeks.
I took my indoor rack outside last night, and put it away until the fall. There were still a couple splits left in it, as well as a handful of kindling in the house, so I actually prepared the first fall fire in the stove already. When the time comes, all I'll have to do is light it. This past Friday I started hardening off my tomato and pepper plants, bringing them in/outdoors. I'll probably plant them in the raised beds on Thursday. The oaks are leafing out, which means we're close to having all that heavy pollen in the air soon. We're well on our way now.
On Sunday, before I got home from the GTG, my wife says she saw a hummingbird at one of our feeders. Then after u guy gimme at 11 am Sunday, while hanging out on the patio with my wife, I saw a male ruby throated hummingbird at the other feeder They are back. Glad I set up the feeders about a week ago.
I switched the mower and snowblower over the weekend. Was going to put seafoam in the snowblower's tank, then fill it up but when I took the cap off, it looked empty. Couldn't remember if I had run it dry over the last use. Started it up, and had just enough to get me from the driveway to within 15 feet of the shed. So, the winter equipment is being stored dry this year. The mower started right up (stored with gas in it), so it is in the garage and ready to go. Probably will do first mowing this next weekend. Except it seems to be rainy every weekend, so it may go longer.
Signs of spring here... So much rain. It was the 3rd wettest Spring on record, only about 3/4" under the 2nd wettest Spring and that was several days and rain storms ago. I know we got at least 3/4" of rain from the last couple of days. There's standing water in my yard, and we're on a hill. I can't mow most of my yard due to the water. Even though the grass is getting taller that I like. Good thing I have a biga$$ new boat in my yard. If the water level gets that high we're all in for problems, but at least my family will be on a floating island.
