Had an ad roll up on a social media account in which Husky proudly announced a battery saw now with a clutch. How will this differ versus whatever the heck it’s others battery saw does without one? Do I (we) need one?
I don’t see any reason for a clutch on a battery say just like I can’t see a reason for a clutch on a electric saw I am interested in what other members think
I'm curious. Ah, I see. It looks to be a mitigation of sorts for the thermal shutdown stuff...which is very annoying. Only time my smokers 'shut down' is when they run out of fuel. Still waiting to see something that has 60-70cc power and runs as long as a tank of gas on one battery. I kinda feel like I'll be waiting a bit yet.
Yup, seems like that's how they are getting away with not having to leave go of the trigger when the chain stalls...
I have a strunk, a big military one and it has a centrifugal clutch just like a gasser. I always assumed it was to reduce the shock load hitting the genny as the trigger is pulled.
Could it also be to help stop the saw when hitting chaps? Ive read battery saws are harder to stop with chaps than gassers.
I looked over a guys Milwaukee battery saw the other day. For what he does it seems perfect as he just uses it occasionally in his business (he is an electrician). No need to carry fuel and bar oil in his truck and all of his other battery operated tools are Milwaukee. The one thing that I noticed is that it’s much heavier than I expected. Think it weighs as much as my old Stihl MS250. The battery saws have their place no doubt but for our needs they would never replace my gassers.
