Well so far off to a decent start with gathering some wood. Met my buddy Rusty (the guy that made the turkey call for last years raffle) back at the club today after work. We dropped about 12 trees but only around 9 were usable for firewood (the other's were pretty rotted) and got all the logs dragged up to the log pile. I was surprised to see there was actually still some logs left there from last years GTG and probably at least a dump truck load that was cut and still needs split. I am gonna try to get as nice of a pile as possible not sure how much really big stuff that I'll be able to get. I know that I was talking to Rick last week and he mentioned about dropping some big tree's down up on the high power range (100 to 300 yard range) because some of the branches are really hanging out and you can't see the 300 yard range as well. So even if we don't have a big log pile we should still be able to have fun dropping some big tree's and gathering more logs.
I am not sure. I mentioned something to Rick in January and said that if they needed me to pick it up and take it over I would but they haven't contacted me yet. Someone else from the club may have taken it over. I haven't seen Rick lately to ask him the last time I was back there Rick and Sarah were out of town.
brenndatomu I have an update for you on the splitter....... I was back shooting at the range last week and was finally able to talk to Rick and he said that it is currently at a local hydraulic business being gone over and fixed! Hopefully it will be raring and ready to go by the GTG and have the power that it's supposed to! For those of you who don't know Rick is now a member of FHC but for the life of me I can't remember what his screen name is! I think his name is a part of his screen name.
Hopefully you guys let that motorcycle riding biker trash back to the club. LOL. I'm actually out in Vegas for UBC training this week. Taking a Penn State college course. Our instructor lives 12 miles away from the gun club and wants to stop by.
Hey all! Scotty Overkill blacksmith Just heard that Miranda Lambert will be in Altoona (at the Altoona Curve Ball Park). The park is only a few miles away from hotels that are closest to the GTG site. I don't know if this will affect the local hotels, but if you're planning to make reservations, get them booked early.
Oh chit...last year you chased me down the road to get the 2 you didn't finish out of the 6 pack last year!
It's kind of slow going but getting some wood gathered up. I was back there last night getting a few dump truck loads of logs transfered up to the site. I know it doesn't look like a whole lot but there's more scattered around that I still need to get up there. There's actually still logs up there from last year a a decent pile of wood that was cut up but not split yet. From the sounds of it there probably gonna be some tree's that we can get together and drop and clean up. That would work best with a crew.
