Frederickson Farm is about 8 miles from me and they are WAY overpriced on most of what they have. I needed some sealer for my stove stack and they were 2Xs more expensive than for what I paid in my town hardware store! But the foolish consumer just keeps buying. They don't shop price and quality because they don't know any better. Learned so much about burning and am closing in on 20 years of experience. This site is excellent for information from people who know their stuff. I am happy "going along for the ride" and contributing when I can bring some value to the table.

BTW, I just bought three tons of Wood & Sons at another local vendor, who will deliver AND put them into my garage for $380/ton. NOT bad, as I paid $350/ton for the same service and amount of Matra in 2023. Given my time, gas for the 1500 and inflation, I'm glad I am not seeing $400/ton in 2024.

I almost passed on pellets this year. We bought a ton from TSC for $309 as a safety if the oil furnace went fluekie. But wound up getting 3 tons from HD with the $299 special they had. Plus a 10% off coupon. Approx $269/ton.

My local TSC is at $299.50 (for MWPs) - basically the same as HD (GS of course). So both are cheaper than the spring prices were.

I have no idea what better pellets go for since I don't usually burn those unless I can find a great price. It looks like the local Aubuchon's didn't raise their prices since last year but I haven't paid enough attention to tell if prices were lowered.

    Prices around here right now:
    $282 TSC
    $299 Home Depot
    $349 Lowes
    $424 Lowes (Green Team)
    $375 - $550 Boutique pellet stores

The price of oil is low enough that pellet sales at Lowes prices or higher may be problematic.

I really like the Matras I bought last year, and still have a bunch. But I can't justify $385 for matras, and over $400 a ton for everything else in the supply houses. So I'm likly sitting it out this year.

    First run, HD 299.
Ignore the 2 missing as they are in house due to bag blowout.
The good thing about no rain for a few weeks, no wet bags.
Will need another run, probably December. And one in January?
Need the room to store it. Sitting on 2.5 t atm, but need to burn some and move some first. 20241005_135732.jpg
