    Tree structure and bark look like red maple. Twig/bud pictures would be very helpful.

    Tree is pretty dead. I may just cut into it to see if it’s punky or not. Don’t wanna waste my time if it’s poplar or something similar

    The fungi on the trunk look typical to what I see on dead red maples around here. Once dead they have a short "shelf life"
