Second tree of the mulberry score neighbor came down today.


Only concern here is the wind is very slightly blowing towards the direction I want to go. Beat wedges again for 10-15 before it fell.

XS365sp w/ a 28” had the honors.


All dressed and ready to buck. Ported Jonsered 2150 did the lions share.



Switched to the DozerDan357 when the wood got to about 8-10”. Fresh chain made all the difference. 365 cut the base pieces.

 

Wife came along and helped me load the limb wood. Damm thorns bit me more than once.

Had to pull the bar off the 365 to make it fit. Got the entire tree in one load.



Staging area is fully plugged.


I separated the small stuff that didn’t need split. Typically don’t save down that small but it’s BL.

Stumped w/ the 357. 365 chain must have touched dirt, didn’t feel like swapping. 20” bah on there for reference. Couple cuts in the base barely got through w/ the 28”.

Those thorns can catch you off guard as not all trees have them. I bumped into a couple thorny saplings yesterday at my BL cut. Some choice words came out of my mouth!

I was definitely overweight. Didn’t feel like 2 trips and the drive home was very smooth/flat roads. Only 10 miles away from my place.

I'm the kinda guy that loads till it's falling off then put 3 more on. Lol. May not be the best but I do get a load. Sometimes I look at my truck and wonder how it manages.

 

This truck, knock on wood, has been loaded and overloaded many times and it keeps on keepin’ on. This pics you posted were pretty sweet loads. Back when I was getting wood across the field from my place I regularly loaded above the cab like that.

 

Sad thing is that I'm haulin this wood 14 miles. Same here on the truck, it's took every thing that I have threw at it.

 

I've had thoughts before about you asking quite a bit of the Tundra. It's what they are supposed to be for really. When I was little, rule of thumb was that if you could fit it *onto your pickup, you were good to haul it. Probably why the local lime quarries won't load pickups anymore. GM & Ford took turns stacking each others pickups on top of each other and driving them up cinderblock mountains to show their 'toughness'. I sure do miss those days.

I remember that commercial well. I've heard more than once the Ford guys probably removed the engines and other stuff to make it up the mountain.
