I believe my fire wednesday night may have been the last for this season. Looking ahead the temps are seasonal or warmer. Time to reload the wood shed...after my yard isn't a swamp. How does everyone else stand?
I've stopped 24/7 burning last week. I will build a fire in the evening, but not light it off until the following morning, if a chill needs to be chased off.
I expect to still be lighting the occasional fire in June. We are forecasted to get snow next week. Sunday might see 70 degrees for a high. You have to love springtime in the Rockies. It was a mild winter, though. It won’t take as many loads to refill the shed this year.
I let the wood boiler go out Tuesday. Time to give it its final cleaning and start mowing grass/taking care of the pool.
My last fire was yesterday, even though it was in the low 50s outside. I’ll probably have a few more sporadically, using small splits that burn up quickly. Even just burning “junk” aspen it doesn’t take much to heat ourselves out of the house running the stove this time of year. There’s still a few days left of cool mornings: Last spring we had an early May frost that killed a lot of the apple blossoms. Da Gov even declared a disaster because of it. I won’t count May out of burning weather just yet.
Had a fire last week to help dry out a little basement seepage. Other than that, I was done 2 weeks ago. The gas furnace is handling the little bit of chill left.
Fired up the stove last weekend as it got chilling in the house, but that looks to be the last of it for the year. I stopped burning regularly over a month ago. Time to move wood off the racks into the wood shed to make room for new splits.
Haven't had a fire in several days but will likely light up this evening. Calling for mid/high 70's sunday then maybe an 80 next week. In an effort to make room for more splits, I'll have to pack the basement this spring instead of waiting for fall. Heck of a problem to have, lol. But it's sure nice to be able to cherry pick what wood I get, pun intended.
I fired mine up again this morning after sunrise. Tired of hearing the electric furnace kicking on. Forecast after a warm weekend, the weather is taking a turn again to low forties through next week.
"Is it over?" It is for me. Mid 70's next week and really close to May now. Last week I had snow, funny how things change.
Still burning a load at night here. Gets down into the low 30's yet. When I get up at 4am to go to work in the morning I want a warm place to chit and a dry place to have that first cup of coffee. Sides that a far weather it be in the stove or the far pit outside helps me relax.
Just started a fire, 45, rain and windy as all get out. Will put more in for the night then we'll see from there.
It's been over here for a while. Still have some 30 degree mornings but 60s and 70s in the afternoon.
Those look like the temps we are to have next week down here by La Crosse. I may get a fire going on some of those days.
Mostly done here. Occassional fire to take the edge off. Got 100 gallons of oil this week (yuck) but the wood stove only heats one side of the house anyway. Solar is jamming so that's always nice.
