    I agree my fire pit supply is getting low. This will be added to that pile for grilling this summer.

    I agree, but my fingers are crossed that it’s really a massive Persimmon.

    Chud I dont think that I have ever cut Persimmon, how does one tell if is is Persimmon.

    A sticky goo oozes out between bark and wood.
    The bark is darker, but similar in pattern to older dogwood. If the tree has been long dead the bark will crumble in small cubes.

    Is that bubblegum goo similar to the goo that oozes out of a wild cherry tree

    Im thinking some type of softwood too. Nice that its mostly off the ground.

    Finally was able to get out this morning after all the rainy days that we have had, Yes Eric and jrider were correct it is pine firewood. Therefor I cut it for the fire pit and the family gathering this fall. Did not take any pictures.

    It’s a common persimmon a species of diospyros
