I'm traveling away from it. I live in Northeast Ohio. Supposed to be one of the best places. Work will have me in Florida that week
Just another day for me. With all the hype you'd think it's never happened and will never happen again. Definitely a cool thing but the more mainstream they make it the less interesting it is. The excitement of natural wonders comes from the randomness and being at the right place at the right time.
My location is on the edge of the totality path.. Leaving work an hour early that day to setup the camera to try and get some pics or video. Have solar glasses and Mylar lens filter for the camera. Gonna practice a few days prior. edit.. on a tripod of course. How bout it.
Less than an hour's drive to get into the total dark zone. Depends on the weather that day if I attempt to go or not. Like most other events, the best seat is often right in your livingroom.
I understand how the media hypes things but this really a rare event. On average, any given spot on the Earth's surface can expect to see a full solar eclipse about once every 400 years. I believe the next one anywhere in the US isn't until 2044.
No travel for me. I'll be the weird guy sitting in the yard with my welding helmet on. Going almost straight overhead.
me and you will be in total eclipse Did you hear wegmans grocery stores or going to close during the eclipse
I just don't understand the significance. So what that the moon is going to align with the sun and it'll get kinda dark for a couple min only in certain areas. How does that affect me? Its a cool observance but doesn’t seem THAT important. Again a cool visual but no affect. If i happen to be outside that day and it's a clear sky i might notice. Other than that I'm not even sure what day it is cause it doesn't matter.
I have friends that think they won’t be able to breathe if they are in front of a tv while sports events are televised. I feel the way you about the eclipse about sports games… We will be traveling a bit north if the forecast is good. My kids are being let out of school early. This is something they have never experienced and we want to take it in with them. As has been stated I might not be around to catch the next one, it’s nice to stop and smell the roses from time to time.
Totally understand. I'm no sports guy either. My saying in school used to be "sports hate me and i hate sports." Nothings changed in 20 yrs. Lol. Completely understand about viewing itwith your kids. With any luck they'll remember it when they're an adult. Maybe that's where my disinterest comes from. Back in early grade school, like probably 1st or second grade i can remember covering my eye with a peice of white paper with a pinhole in it and looking up at the sun..... get this....... at school. Lol. It's ridiculous what kids get outta school for now but that's a whole other convo.
Not gonna argue with you there. I also remember the entire school body on the soccer field, probably observing the same eclipse.
