64F in the house this morning when I left for work. I suspect a fire was made after I left. If so, that would be our first fire in several days. We've really slowed down with this warm spell... if it doesn't cool off a little bit, we're not going to be able to burn all the remaining chunklies that we need to get through this season. A good problem to have... I guess...
Returned home from our trip. Boiler has been off for four and a half days. There were coals among the ashes when I got home, but not enough to get a new load going. Boiler temp was sitting at 165 still, so the furnace was switched over to the boiler. some seasoned birch for kindling and up and going with maple for the low forties night. Settled in to watch Iowa women, followed by Indiana . Fun fun!
Cooler temps this weekend with rain and a windy Sunday. Cherry fire this evening to take the chill out of the house. The stove has been cold since tuesday night.
Beautiful here today! Few inches of snow last night, full sun and slow to calm breeze today. Reflection off the snow made the house so bright and cheery today. Add Time Change on Sunday, cool!
Got above freezing today and windy. I’ll be back to burning the rest of the rotten hemlock until things cool down again. The long range says a couple degrees of frost every night but several degrees above during the day.
It surely has not taken much wood to keep the house warm. Over most early spring days we tend to still burn quite a bit but no so much this year.
55/72. Had an overnight cherry and hickory fire. Rain till late afternoon then the temps drop. This rain and warm has the yard growing and greening. May have to mow sooner than later.
It was in the 20's overnight and has warmed to 36. I lit the pellet stove as I have to gather all the trash up for the weekly dump run.
41/66. Just built a fire w/ red oak. Raining out and supposed to last so might spin some records and just chill.
