Check out this chart that shows how long it takes a computer program to crack passwords. It makes me realize I might need to use a different password on some of my more sensitive information.
Thanks for the info! Use a phrase that's easily remembered. "I.Like.3.Woods." Alphanumeric with punctuation. Works for me.
I was in IT a in a "previous life".. 20+ years ago.. one of my passwords back then was PinkFloydRocks420 according to that.. It woulda took 374 trillion years to brute crack it. But remember, if ya use passwords that are influenced by your normal favorite things.. ie.. pets names and such.. social networks make it easy to troll personal information. Those are the first combinations a smart hacker would use. I am personally sick of passwords, because I have to write them all down. There's too many to remember in my little brain these days.
I can remember when I didn't have a single password in my life. Good times. Not sure there's much I'd miss if I had to go back.
I can remember when you had a choice for password a long, long time ago . Now companies (like you Apple) decide what your password can and cannot be and when it needs updating. Sorry that's too much like a password you've used before, try again ..... Add to list of peeves, like masks and shots for the flu that never goes around and other respiratory ailments like the flu that do.
Good thing I don't have to remember phone numbers anymore because that part of my brain is taken up by several passwords (not nearly all of them). For work I can't have anything that resembles a word, has to be 8-12 long, with digits, letters, and special characters. Oh, and the digits can't just be at the end of the rest of the string since those are supposedly easier to hack than if numbers are elsewhere. And even then, some of them have to be verified by a code to my work phone. I can't imagine what it would be like if I had access to more sensitive stuff - they probably have to give a blood sample every time they try to even start their computer.
I Like when every x amount of days you have to change your password. To me that’s like saying, okay nobody figured out your last password, sooo let’s change it so maybe they can???
I like when the grocery store app makes me change my password on a shared account with my wife. Are they afraid someone is going to steal my shopping list or loyalty points?
