Hi all, I lucked out and found this stump grinder on Marketplace. Very reasonable price, it's self propelled and seems like it will work well. Gonna try it out next week.
The self propelled will be nice The machine looks clean Hope you nothing but the best of luck with it
Don’t forget when you own a piece of equipment you have the convenience of being able to use it whenever you want
No doubt but you also have maintenance and repair costs that go along with ownership. I've rented a log splitter in years past for $75 a weekend. Could pretty much get all my wood split for the year if i had it staged in rounds and stacked. Hard to justify a peice of equipment sitting around the rest of the year. Likewise I've borrowed my dad's spliter this winter and it's been nice to split when i want for as long as i want.
That’s what I ended up doing, was on the lookout for a stump grinder at a decent cost for over a year. We have tons of stumps on the property. One came up on a Saturday morning, and I told the wife I was going to buy it and drive 7 hours to get it. It’s paid for itself several times over, and I am sure it can be sold for what I paid for it. Most recent stump ground was this triple trunk red oak.
Also building a place to store it.. I hate expensive equipment out in elements; probably why 3ox40 barn and 3.5 car garage are full and looking at more lean to
I’ve had a couple of stumps ground out at our place over the years because they were in the yard. The fellow who we use is pretty reasonable. What I learned from him is that the most expensive maintenance is when you have to replace the cutters. If I remember correctly I the said $1,000? Since your recent purchase is for personal use I would think you could get a lot of mileage from it before having to do that. Good luck and hope it does what you want it to do
