    I haven’t seen a bill below $450 in years.
    We have some of the highest rates in the country. We also have a lot of regulations on rates, which has seemed to do little other than to line the pockets of the political class.

    I’d still be flipping out at $450

    And we despise getting a monthly bill if it is over $100 :hair:

    A LOT. I dunno, about 2000 kWh? 6 people in my house so it takes a lot of juice. Dryer runs almost daily, same as the washer. Electric water heater. I was disqualified for solar last year which makes me feel like a caged animal with no options. If it was just me and 2 kids I'm sure I'd have more reasonable usage.

    Our last electric bill was $340...we called our co-op and it appears it was our outside trash pump and septic tank pump that were raising the bill. We will see this month.

    Your bill is crazy Eric Wanderweg...hope you get this back to normal (still ridiculous though)

    So at $450/ mo and 2000 kWh that would be about $0.225/kWh, all in...not cheap, but I've heard of worse! You aren't on budget and that's a "catch up" bill?

    A couple years back I got a $900 water bill for the quarter, then the following quarter it was $1200. I finally contacted them and it took some fighting but they eventually figured out something was wrong on their end and I didn't have to pay another water bill for the rest of that year. People's eyes glaze over when I tell them The Man is out to get me, yet this has been my experience time and time again. :hair: That's why I'm retiring to a place with no electricity or plumbing. Back to the stone age for me.

    Electric water heater must have a huge impact
    My dryer runs hours a day
    A good electrician can put a meter on each breaker tell you what’s going on
    I would blow:mad::hair::bug: at 450 a month

    Sheesh. I've pared my usage down to 3.X kwh/day and there's just not much more I can cut out. It's a LOT easier to be minimalist when you are single, or at least no longer have kids in the house.

    Yeah if my bill were anywhere near $450, I'd be mounting up one of those electric panel smart monitor systems! They are cheap enough these days...

    This is less of an observation and more of a general question for all you hoarders out there, but I find myself wondering what people use the internet for? I ask because FHC is basically the only thing I look at online. I'm not in to social media and no longer follow the "news" a whole lot. I will admit on rare occasions I do check out ZeroHedge if I want to see what sort of craziness is happening in the world around me but it is very rare for me to do so as I don't really care a whole lot. The world will do what the world is gonna do.

    Also, I will keep up with scores and such during college football season but after that is over it's basically FHC only for me.

    So hoarders, what grabs your attention other than FHC?

    Certain informational channels on YouTube. Homesteading type channels, DIY, history, etc. No Facebook, Instagram, or any social media for me.

    I guess if we count YouTube as internet usage then I will admit that is my main source of info. I am more in to long form podcasts than anything else. I'm definitely not a fan of the short tiktok style content.
