I drove almost to DC to pick up a cheap Kuuma wood furnace a few years back...I went through it then flipped it for a nice profit, but it would sell for almost double that price if I had it now!

 

That’s a haul for you! At least it was to make an eventual profit.
In 2017 I drove about 300 miles to western New York for a 1975 Schwinn Stingray bicycle of all things

 

Yeah I think it was about 900 miles round trip...it was a long day considering this thing was still in their basement and had to be removed and loaded...he had a skid steer to help, and an outside entrance, but it didn't go perfectly smoothly either...note to self, pay the man after the merchandise is loaded up safely.
At least it did damage to their stair railing too...

I picked up a nice Schwinn Collegiate for my wife a few years back...got it all polished up and tuned perfectly...she was grateful, but not really into it...it collects dust in the garage now...I suppose my luck is that prices have collapsed on them since then too, IIRC it was supposedly worth double what I paid for it back then.

 

With a lot of new and new used parts, sure. But I know these have a cult following and I’m sure it could prove to be a good investment. Looks like the cylinder will need some welding, re-tapping and helicoils to mount the muffler. If the cylinder is good on the inside maybe just a fresh piston and ring. Man it’s tempting

Black locust. It gets those bizarre shapes at stump/ground level. Plus the bark and color of the wood say BL to me.
