Deploying for six to nine months starts wearing on a family and isn't that exciting after a dozen times. As I became more financially secure from other means, a bigger retirement check just didn't matter much. I have been very active since retiring and retiring at an early age allows one to do things they couldn't if they retired in their late fifties or early sixties.

My wife helps me load for deliveries and we have happy hour everyday from 3:30-4:30 which is splitting time. Supposedly you aren't supposed to operate dangerous equipment while sipping TN's finest. I keep working until about 7:15.

Nice firewood day. Three deliveries and two of the customers were not home. I like being undisturbed when wheelbarrowing and stacking. Always amazed that people place Benjamins for me at their wood rack without knowing a thing about me. One of my customers today is a Benjamin tipper. Creates a lot of work on my part when he calls for firewood. I feel obligated to load my best perfect pieces and driest stuff. He received all white oak in the 12-14% range.

My big tipper customer's rack was tilting badly. So searched around his yard to find bricks and slate to level it out with. This guy lives in a gated community with about 18 homes. Guessing they are all above the 10 million range. Felt weird I was allowed in for my delivery.

You really are the premier in the Nashville firewood business. A gated community is no match for someone with your background!

My deliveries were in Brentwood, Franklin and Murfreesboro. About a two hundred mile round trip. So about 13 gallons of diesel expended ($48) for $940 with tips. Diesel is up about 50 cents a gallon in a month, eats into my profits.

So excited for the growth like has been seen in Murfreesboro! More people moving in means more business and more Benjamins! The Nashville area has really set the standard for growth and what these small towns resistant to change should aspire to. They bring in people with the Benjamins who are willing to pay for the top notch service you provide in the firewood industry!

It is amazing the amount of wealth that is moving into middle Tn. Burning firewood inside and outdoors is a big deal here. Seasoned hickory and white oak brings home the Benjamins.

Indeed! Thank you CA and TX for sending us your wonderful citizens who have culturally and economically enriched our communities! I don't know where we would be without them. Probably open fields and forests that have not been utilized to their full potential such as providing top notch firewood to top notch communities that have sprouted up with top notch customers who buy from a top notch seller such as yourself! Good job eoddiver!

Boy oh boy is it getting deep in here
What's this about Texans fleeing the lone star state for Tennessee? I thought it was just Yankees and people fed up with the west coast that were gentrifying the place.

A lot of my customers are new to Nashville, but nobody from TX. except my mailman. I do miss Colorado with its awesome mountains and mild summers, no bugs, and low humidity. TN does have all four seasons though.

I did Med cruises, and a Unitas. Was on 3 USCG cutters also. But you were what,an O6 or O5 when you retired, you sea time was long, long behind you! Your sea, shore rotation was done and then some!!! Unless, you volunteered for it. You could have been driving a Desk, and at the O6 level, who is going to screw with you. You could have gotten the star. I turned down my Anchor star because I didn't want to go to California. Not to mention, I was 55 years old and feeling that sea time. You must be Superman! All the Navy and Coasties I sailed with, there knees, back, hips are mostly shot! One of my Warrant buddies has had a hip and both knees replaced. I've had 3 back surgeries, my knees drained about 9+ times each, dislocated my right shoulder twice and fractured my neck and full of Osteoarthritis. You as an EOD diver, how did you manage to STAY in the tank? You know what I mean I presume...

We had 3 deliveries so far this week.
Our customer with the short splits needed a load...partial tote 20240220_105828.jpg
Our lady that insists on giving us more than asking price had to have a load of green oak...she just loves her fireplace and our farwood... 20240220_105848.jpg
We tell them it's green...bring it on...and she helps stack it...
Cut another load today. Our excellent Wofe Ridge 28HO splitter is just so AWESOME...stack on the rounds and send them through the 4-way... 20240221_093623.jpg
Stacked it on her rack...coming back on a day off and put her a proper roof on the racks...when she empties the left side, we will bring another load and fill that side up... 20240221_121913.jpg
    The BENJAMINS are coming in....:emptywallet::makeitrain":makeitrain":makeitrain"
This is after working 7PM-7AM shift at almost 62 yrs old...
Oh, didn't mean to be over the top too much...;););)
