There are a lot of trees down after two windstorms and completely saturated soil. Where possible I skid as big a section of the trees as I can up to the flatter landing where I have my splitter and stacks. If I can't get in to skid I carry the rounds out on the trailer towed by the ATV.

I need to brush and clean up the overgrown areas. I have been cutting the brush with the chainsaw and dragging it into brush piles further up the hill where I can get to it with the tractor/grapple. Anyone have any better ideas?

Wow. Looks like a big mess. Must have been pretty strong winds too. Wet ground surely doesn't help you.

I can't believe all that greenery. It looks like Ireland, it was quite a storm.

Sounds like you are doing the best you can. Wood and brush cleanup is just plain work at times.

I think the drought has been hard on the trees. Some were already dying or were stressed.
I'm learning the limits of my tractor. I was skidding a small tree up that slope and the front wheels came off the ground. Sheesh! What a feeling! I cut a portion off the tree and added a bucket full of wet clay up front.

Rent a skid loader with a forestry mulching head. Brush be gone! Never touch the brush by hand. Pulverize it in place and move on. Worth looking into for the overgrown areas etc. Surely YTube has vids. Amazing tool.

Good idea, I'll have to see if any are available to rent around here. April would be a good time for that. Also, looks like fun!
