The wind pushed this one over last year and it got hung up. Used the Portable Winch Co. PCW 5000 to get it on the ground. Even with a snatch block on the chocker chain to increase pulling capacity I ended up moving the winch to a different location to change the pulling angle. They make a cone that goes over the end of the tree to keep it from digging into the ground which would have made pulling easier. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Nice job getting it down safely. Pretty impressive winch to pull against all that resistance. When I saw that sharp end stab into the ground , I couldn’t help but think “uh oh”. Also like seeing the rainforest look unique to the pacific northwest woods.
I enjoyed the video it makes me want to go buy the winch I guess you never now when you will need one
I deal with so many of these it's unreal. I've probably done 10-15 in the last week. Usually I pray that the stump is rotten and I can jam a winch line on the bottom and pull the whole thing into a clearing. Failing that I'll do a wedge and backcut 3 feet up and drop it to the ground, then stick the winch line on the tall stump and yank it out with leverage, then pull the tree. Good times.
