Me too - but Ideal Steel is better than Steal.

I'll probably be posting pics live from the DC stove challenge. Hopefully while wearing my complimentary Woodstock apparel:D

Picture of what appears to be the finished stove. Ignore the antlers. They were being cute about something.

But, it does give you a general idea of size and how the stove will look.

Wow, that looks GREAT! I really like the two tone color scheme too, although I'm sure it's not to everyone's taste.

I'm still not a fan of the legs. But, I also do not like the look of Pacific Energy Steel stoves. So, this says more about my tastes than it does whether or not it is a good design.

I would buy this stove over the looks of the PE Summit. I just wish this stove had more traditional looking legs.

Won't the antlers make side clearance an issue?

You really only have to worry about them during rutting season.

    I like it.

(The women of my household probably won't. I hope our Beta in Metallic Blue with Fleur de lis satisfies them. Otherwise I'll be looking into a Progress Hybrid for 2014/2015.)

If the stove offers the right burn times it will be a possible replacement for the Defiant. The Ashford 30 from BK is a strong contender, also. I will know more in two weekends when I insulate the chit out of my attic.

Hopefully you find the stove that works best for you. I will have to find some other entertainment if your stove saga comes to an end. Maybe I will follow the chainsaw threads and look at building a hot saw. Heck, I am already feeling lost just thinking about it.

I think both the Union and the Ashford would be great stoves to try out. I'm happy with my T6 but can't stop looking at other stoves.

But wait, there's more! I'm thinking about also doing an add-on pellet boiler.

Seriously, though, this has been a weird journey.

Too bad you didn't get in on the beta test. You could have tried it out for free.

My wife just saw the moose stove over my shoulder while I was watching the new video on the blog.

She said, "Is that what our new stove is going to look like?!? When is your brother taking our pretty stove? Can't we keep it just in case ... "

The Beta better look damm good in person or I'm in the dog house.

I'm pretty sure they reserved that privileged to existing Woodstock owners that were looking for a larger stove. That's what I would do if I was them.

Frankly, by the numbers I think this Ideal Steel stove is going to be perfect for our needs. It's going to have considerably more BTUs and much longer burn times than our Fireview. I suspect the same amount of wood will produce a slightly greater amount of usable heat. The huge glass is a big plus in my opinion. I love having a better view of the flames and a cook top. The aesthetic taste of the women in my life might have to take a back seat to utility this time.

Those all seem like rational and sound reasons as to why the steel stove will be perfect for you. Unfortunately, rational and sound reasoning rarely wins in family debates.

I am firmly plant my prediction that this time next year we will see "Enjoying the Progress" threads from BrianK :D

Brian, the traditional good looks of the PROGRESS may not have the cutting edge styling of the new stove, and its burn times might be a tad shorter, but it's an awesome heat machine and a beautiful piece of furniture to be enjoyed 12 months of the year. It sounds like a great backup plan if the new stove doesn't make your cut.
