    Hi everybody!

Here's some pictures from around my local area of Oregon, the Calapooya Mountains and southern Willamette Valley - we had an ice storm which brought a lot of timber down, and a lot of power lines too. I was without power for 6 days, it was fine - LOVE my woodstove. Some people still without power, FEMA and the Red Cross are here, it's getting better quickly now.

Douglas Fir - makes good firewood.

This is Hillside, a road I drive into town, about ten miles from home.

People don't understand why the power is still off (some still don't have power on day 9) but these towers don't just get replaced in a day or two.

Same road, getting all cut out now.

Yeah, when you see a fleet of these tracked line repair vehicles roll through your little town you know it's bad. (But good for Firewood Hoarder Members!)

Are ice storms like that a rarity or something you deal with often? The stoves are awesome appliances in power outages!!!

Whoa! How does a tower buckle like that? I would expect the line to snap before the structure gives way.

I would call that both a natural disaster and a firewood wonderland. Terrible for the people without the means to stay warm without electricity for sure. Great for opportunistic scroungers of course. Too bad about the giant Douglas firs. Aren't they already being attacked by some invasive beetle too?

Power company doesn’t have the right to clear away danger trees?

The power of mother nature. Beautiful and deadly at the same time. Reminds me of the ice storm that hit Northern New England/Canada in January 1998

Glad you are safe and well. Thanks for sharing.

Amazing destruction. I would hate having to mess with that while all the ice as still there!

Thanks for posting that Buzz Benton
