I've tried a few things over time but have been wondering what you guys might suggest.

I use a Yamaha atv for pushing snow and it works good except sometimes the sticky snow can be a big problem. I suppose for those living in Florida would suggest moving but I'll be staying.

Have you tried spaying the blade with WD40 or silicon?

I've heard both products work. I've never tried either, however.

I just go ahead and plow.

When finished, I'll take a plastic shovel and scrape off the stuck snow remaining on the plow. Personally, I wouldn't spray it with oil/silicone to prevent sticking.

How much snow are we talking about?

IMG_3547.jpeg There are a few products on the market like this. Lately I have been spraying the auger and chute of the snowblower with fiud film cuz it’s what I have on hand.

I'm sure there are cheaper products out there, but I used Pam cooking spray with good results on the shovel and blower.

You don’t need to go that far South. There snakes, gators and lizards are big and getting bigger.

I’ve used Pam on a couple occasions on a shovel and the bucket of my skid steer. It seems to help.
I’ve thought about trying floor wax like mom used to use on the hardwood floors in the skid steer bucket. The biggest problem with SS bucket is it isn’t smooth and shiny slick, especially in the corners. And once it starts sticking in the corners it gets worse rapidly

    Spray on furniture polish.
If you get the lemon scent it smells like you are living in Florida without the hassle.

I have used it on shovels and the chute of my snowblower.

I'll have to try some Pledge if we get anymore snow this year. Get some of that on a hardwood floor or laminate and it's like an ice rink for days.

There is one I've never tried. Maybe Jeffrey Svoboda will give it a try and let us know.

That's what I use on my roller. Yes, I pack a base on the driveway with a 400 pound steel yard roller before plowing. This year though, mother nature had other ideas and dumped way to much, way to fast to roll a base.

I use whatever I have on hand at the time, a product like this, liquid wrench and just regular silicone spray on my shovels and snowblower and they work well. . Just gotta remember to reapply after a couple of uses.

Holy crap! I would have never guessed that this is an issue for so many.

Maybe it is because the temps hover around freezing/melting that it becomes troublesome?

Only in the beginning of the cold will snow stick to the shovel....when it's that wet heavy snow/cement type stuff. But I never considered thinking of spraying the plow, shovels, blower.

Dennis, I wonder if the newer automotive protectants advertised as "Ceramic Coatings" would last longer than the traditional petrol or vegetable oil based products?
