I have a funny story like this one.......lady that lives in the apartment across the stream behind my stacks likes her beer....she's from Germany. Anyway I was out back splitting wood with my maul in the summer one day a couple years back working up a sweat, I hear someone behind me, in a drunken slur, ask me if I want something to drink....:axe:o_O

I turn around and it's the neighbor lady (who's a bit older and drunk off her saddle) in a skimpy tank top and shorty shorts on with several bottles of beer.:bug::loco:

I kindly tell her "no thanks" and proceeded to tell my wife the story afterwards, wifey was REALLY jacked up at that lady for a long time!! She still don't talk to her to this day. I think that's one of the main reasons my wife is tolerant of my HUGE wood cube along the back of our property now!! :rofl: :rofl:

How is your gut flora? The good bacteria in your gut, do you eat probiotic and prebiotic food? Kefir, Yogurt, Live Sauerkraut, Real pickles? My gut has some issues, I was getting heartburn because of my diet and lack of good gut flora. Started eating yogurt every other day and drinking Kefir, homemade sauerkraut and pickles and I have never been healthier, the fat around my abdomen disappeared, I am not saying it was all the probiotics but they have helped immensely.

I think it's pretty good - about the only time I have issues is with fast food. No acid issues either - good thing too cause I love spicy food. My girlfriend and I both like to cook, so most of what I eat comes from the produce aisle instead of the processed foods section. I don't eat much yogurt but I love cheese. Made my own sauerkraut a couple times. Love me some reubens - made my own smoked pastrami too. :chef:

Thanks, now I'm hungry!

Right where I want to be.
I cut out sugar in my coffee (I use a tsp of honey now) and drink only a couple cups/day, and started eating more salad and less bread. Cut out the pies and crap. Very few goodies and I very rarely drink pop/soda and zero beer.:jaw:
Started at about 245, and I think I'm actually at 218 right now, but it fluctuates a couple pounds every day.
Lost about 6 lbs. after the surgery, since I didn't feel like eating much.
I don't recommend that as a weight loss strategy though.:D
I was a runner and weights person for a LONG time.....decades......until my knees got tired.:headbang:
Now, I just hold down my chair. I'm pretty gooder at that.  Hard to lose just sitting around, but I've managed to maintain, so I'm happy about that.
Oh, and to sort of stay on topic.......I don't split by hand. We got a gas splitter with the house and that's all I use.

It is simple, If I am active I increase my food intake , when inactive I reduce my food intake , I also eat small portions and eat 5-6 times a day

I have been eating Paleo (caveman) style for a couple of months now and love the outcome. The joints are better, the heartburn is gone, lost weight and gained muscle, and good bathroom time ;). I cut out drinking a ton of pop everyday and now only drink water or coffee with a bit of honey in it (a couple of beers now and then ). I dont feel stuffed and sick after eating now and feel like I have a lot more energy without the afternoon crash.
I know that not everyone will agree with me, but it works for me and I would recommend it to anyone.

I would agree with you about energy balance, but the main issue I had about professor Haub's studies is would you consider yourself healthy after eating McDonalds or Twinkies? I used to be a driver for Hostess and I can tell you that I stayed a decent weight because of my activities, but I would not consider myself healthy after eating all that.

I dont mean to start a fight here because we all know that there are three caustic conversations (Politics, Religion, and diet) but weight is only part of the picture here. Working out can cover a multitude of sins, but to live healthy involves many different things other than just weight.

That's my two cents, take it with a grain of salt.

    Nice work Shawn.

Im trying to get myself back but its hard. 240 in college.... deciede to get in shape started running and was down to 185 at one point, back up to 200 when I got married, dropped 15 the first eyar we owned hte house, but have drifted back up to 215 since the kids.

Id like to be 175, but the last time I visited the doc he told me "at my age (?? im only 38) my body just wants to be around 200, so set a more modest goal to just keep it under 200"

So im trying to get more active again and cut back. My problem is carb craving and eating all the sweets the mrs. bakes for the kids.

    +1

My family has a long history of digestive problems including chrones. I'm lactose intolerant and IBS myself and eating yogurt and a probiotic supplement daily has been a huge help for me.
