Morning all It has been a busy couple of days. The sun has been out and it has been beautiful. 60 kms down island is the start of snow and miserable weather. We got a dusting which disappeared almost as soon as it came. Today is windy with the prospect of rain this afternoon.

We have been moving firewood into Mom's basement, taking her to doctor appointments and working on a digital project for her library. In the process, I left my phone at her house. My new iphone is so different from my iPhone4. It is taking a while to get use to it.

Anyway another busy day today catching up on chores not done.

    Everyone have a great day.

My mother is the head Librarian and Curator of the Library/Museum in her town. Mom, her staff and I have been working on scanning and databasing a collection of photos and newspapers from the 40s through to the early 60s from a man who had a newspaper in her town. He took pictures of the community events, buildings, weddings, funerals, and portraits of a lot people in the area. It is like stepping back in time for me as this was my childhood. Mom has been an invaluable resource of information for a lot of the photos. At one point she was the typist for the newspapers he produced. We hope to have the collection available online for the 65th anniversary of the Library/Museum by April.

Weather forecasters still their same old way. Forecast a certain amount of snow then don't even get half of what was forecast.

Morning everyone. It's not very often I get to watch the snow falling from the comfort of my house but the timing of this system allowed me to go in late this morning. The downside of that is we'll be plowing into the night but I'll enjoy every minute of it this morning. Have a great friday everyone.

Its all of 16F here WOW!

Gotta take the old work truck into the shop today. That little 3.6L started burning oil really bad over the cold spell. 2.5 quarts in two days About 6 hours of driving to the job site and back and the light came on. Judging by the severe lack of power the old girl might be saying goodby.

    Beauty of a morning...if you're a penguin. :)

-8f and suppose to be below zero rest of the day then drop to -20f tonight. Got about 3" snow last night.

Winds are pretty calm so it could be a lot worse.

    Have a great day everyone.

Wow that is an awesome project for generations to come. Preserving history is so much more than just keeping "old stuff".

I've been candidly recording my mother (she would shoot me if she knew) answering my questions and telling stories of her life and information about the area, family and friends.

I haven't told anyone except for my wife and now FHC that I'm doing it. I think that after she's left this earth it would be kind of a keepsake for family and friends to watch.

My mother started to record her father's stories of tugboating on the West Coast. Unfortunately she played it back for him and he wouldn't do any more. What is also in the Museum archives are recordings of some of the older people's stories who are long gone. I don't think I will be able to record Mom. She is a treasure trove of information about the area and people.

Morning all. After three days of getting up early and catching the first ferry to Mom's, we are sleeping in this morning. Lots of chores to catch up today.
Wet and windy outside. Temps warmed up over freezing last night so we are back to our normal winter weather. Rain for the next week I think.

    Everyone have a great day.
