What were you washing off? Coffee stains or hardwater buildup, or? I use a dish rag and soap, or if there's room I'll put it in a dishwasher load.
Warmed up to-11c today. After the last 6 days it feels warm now. We got a heavy snowfall warning for today and tomorrow. It might be anywhere from 4-8”. Back to burning crap hemlock (I think). Save the primo fir for night logs. Only an inch of snow so far so no backhoe ride tonight.
No this particular night I went to bed at 7pm and had a bathroom break at midnight... tossed a few more logs on to get me near my wake up time of 3 a.m. but woke up early... So instead of fully loading at 2:30 I tossed enough on to get me to about 4:30 till I made my full load before leaving for work at 5 to 5:30... I'm a early bird... Pretty much most all of the time the stove does what I ask of it... except usually that 1 to 2 weeks when temps drop below 10-15 degrees...Not perfect but darn near...
We'll see how this turns out, white out 1/2 day, 6-8' BLOB drifts formed in one day. Water plant is frozen broke so no water tonight and it looks like we'll get drifted in tonight for a few days, forecast is windy through Thursday. Husband was behind a wild neighbor on the way home tonight, he took a turn too fast, slide off the road with horse trailer of hay, hit a fence and power pole. Grateful he didn't take the power to out here out.
Nope. Never do learn. Their getting long in the tooth around here. Won't be around long now, but I still feel obligated to help them. Just can't lead em to water.
Got about 3-4" of snow last night into today. High I saw was 27. Calling for low of 10 tonight. I think it'll get colder with the clear skies. Burning down the coals & then it will be a full load of BL for the overnight and tomorrow the same, to keep this old stone house warm. Im fighting a stomach virus so I'm sure I'll be up at some point during the night to add some splits before morning.
We had snow all day and ended up with 8" of the lightest, fluffiest powder at 19*. The best kind of snow, when you put the outside lights on, the the snow sparkles like millions of little diamonds. Those who know, know.
Side of the stove is stocked with red oak, ash, black birch, and private reserve black locust. I will probably have to throw a couple loads into the indoor bin sometime this week with red oak to clear out another outdoor rack/cord.
66/5 hickory & ash in the fireview. One of the sliding doors was not 100% closed overnight from when I let the dog out. Much cooler inside than it should be. Getting back up to temp.
someone loaded the F500 after I retired last night, so there were coals this morning. Fire started easily this morning with wood thrown in, and ash door open while I emptied the ash tray. 15F out, 60 near the wood stove. have 2/3 load in and warming. Oak, maybe a few sticks of maple.
