Must be nice to let ash build up for a month.

Try that with another stove brand. Not happening.

Seems to burn really consistent with medium loads, but then again, still learning. Tonight is going to be pretty cold, zero or less. I'll fill it up tonight!

6” fiberglass in walls, Andersen windows (43 of em)..
About 24” of blow in fiberglass in attic..
It is insulated well but not near as tight as it could be..
I also added the fresh air intake duct to it after the 1st. year…. Made a noticeable difference in my place..
Edit; fresh air to the BK..
Oh, and Mr. Hoytman, I’m also running a Hitzer 50-93 in my attached garage… I see your posts on coalpail !!

Wow! That's amazing! So far I'm thrilled with the install. Showguy, are you exhausting with 6" or 8" pipe?

I too am also 6" fiberglass insulation and also e-glazed Anderson windows. I wish I could have connected to outside air, but just wasn't an option for me.

Mine is 8”. About 35’ straight off of stove, 2 key dampers needed for me.
If I already had 6” in place I woulda tried it, but did’nt wanna end up buying that pipe twice..

So, do you call that a hotel, or a chalet?

I just call it “roomey”.. There’s alot of open space inside, open from 1st to 2nd floor..
I dunno what the tax man calls it, but I hope they change their mind someday !!

I can think of at least one model of another brand. Been over a month an I’m not close to cleaning out ash yet.

Yes, but does that stove hold the amount of ash the BKK does?

Only other stove that I know could come close would be an Amish made stove, but they accumulate the ash much faster also.

What brand did you have in mind?

Ok, off on a rabbit trail for a moment. For all you seasoned catalyst users. Am I safe to open my BK door while the catalyst temp gauge is quite high? For instance, I'd like to go to bed now, my catalyst temp is up about 3/4 of the gauge, but it's all just glowing coals. I need to add wood for the night. Will I cause thermo shock damage to the cat if I open the bypass door, then slowly open the stove door to introduce cooler air slowly, then reload the stove? I know this is off the thread subject, but just wondering.
