Gotta love this “winter” we are having!

Needed to move some wood today in VT and there was some really wet slushy snow on the ground. The amount meant either the quad or a snowmobile could be used. Since the snowmobile with the hitch on it has its skid removed and sitting in our garage 125 miles south in the flatlands (waiting on parts), the quad was the choice.

The quad generally does well in the snow. However, when it’s wet like this and you add the trailer and some weight, hills can be a challenge. Thankfully, I was moving wood from stacks in the upper part of the yard to the lower part of the yard. So all the weight was going downhill and getting back up the hill was pretty uneventful with an empty trailer. There was some spinning as the quad doesn’t have a locking front diff; it’s a limited slip.

    The upper stacks:

Stacked close to the house. You can tell I stacked it vs my wife who is much neater than I!

Mostly Beech and Birch were moved today. As with pretty much all the wood we burn, this was given to us by our neighbors who had their property logged awhile back.

After the 2 monsoons this week I've had my fill of wet muck to trudge through. The arctic blast is almost here though

If you’re looking for ways to weigh down the back end of the quad, I recommend bacon.

Looking ahead with the temps this week. All that slush should be as solid as concrete. Much colder temps on the way!

Good job working through the mess. I hate running the quad and trailer on the trails when its just a wet mess. Creates ruts and causes erosion. Then I have to spend time filling everything back in.
    Frozen ground is fast approaching.

If there wasnt a little squirrelly spinning of tires it wouldn’t be as much fun. Dont try to fool a fool,,,,,or sometimes like that lol

Dude… that’s what you need, a winch. When you’re not pulling yourself out of sticky situations, you could be pulling logs out of ditches and off of hillsides

Ive thought of that in the past. Mounted ladder rack high in the back close to the cab and winch them in, BUT then to unload them. jo191145 has the perfect set up for that.

Any mounts would need to go through the bed to the frame or the bed would match your tailgate within minutes LOL
