Wet and windy here today. Supposed to get cold and maybe some snow into the weekend.

Boiler is only using about 4 chunks a day...still wondering when winter is going to show up.

Some of the hardest rain I have seen around here in the wee hours last night. Also windy as all get out from midnight last night through today. A few fallen trees and minor power outages but none effecting us. The forecast is for 6" snow on Friday and 3" on Saturday. As cold as 16*F Saturday night. They tease us with fun reports like this in Western Washington but it almost never comes true.:( I will believe it when it actually happens. I have the generator all ready to go and lots of gas (mostly left over boat gas). Plenty of firewood and kindling in the garage. Plenty of Sour Mash and Scotch in the locker. Greatest danger is all the yuppies and yippies in their all wheel drive Audis, BMWs, Lexus and such that are invincible. And a few Rednecks in jacked up pickup trucks of course. 6:30PM now with low 34*F tonight and 43*F high tomorrow. Doug Fir in the stove is going out to allow the house to cool a bit for sleeping. Still raining and a bit breezy.

32* Snow has stopped for now. We only got a couple inches but with temps right at the freezing point, roads can be sketchy. I have my stove loaded with my customary ash and inside it's a balmy 73*

Got the driveway cleared of 6" of crap before coming in for a quick bowl of cereal. First workorder said 9:00-2:00. Left the house just after nine and got a call about being late but hard to tell as I could not understand his accent. Just not a great start for the day. Had another workorder where I had to deal with Indiacare as I call it. I know they don't have it easy either dealing with people like me, but so frustrating.
Got home early but still depressed from the day. I think my neighbors sensed it as all but one had their driveways cleared already and before I could go out for the last one another neighbor cleared it for me. Feeling better now so glad the day is over. They are talking 29f tomorrow, I hope so, before the bottom falls out and we go negative for a day or two.

31 outside, 66 inside. Winds blowing about 50 mph. Not sure about everyone else but we have -2,-16,-23,-24,-8 coming up for lows with -3 and -7 being the highs for two of those days. Does anybody else notice a difference in heating needs with strong winds?

15/76 ... Been feeding the monster non stop for the last 2 days... Glad the otherhalf is filling while I'm gone... Otherwise I'd be relying on the house heater to help... Oak is currently carrying the duties... but will be putting some hedge in here before too long... Will have to see how the Artic chill down goes... Watched a Youtube model last night... Showing Dallas/Fort Worth was looking at teens in windchills.... Might be some rollin' blackouts in Texas if this comes like they think it will...Ought be a interesting week ahead... with the snow cover that we've got and more on the way... Loving it... If its going to be cold might as well have some snow... :D

The heavy rains have stopped, but the wind is still a factor. Temps are dropping. Small splits of oak currently doing the work. Next week some cold temps moving in. BL and mulberry uglies at the ready.

15f heading to 29f for the high today with "sneaky" snow coming in. After today temps start dropping with Sunday showing a high of -10. Also showing a chance of snow for the next few days.

I got out this morning to do some snow blowing. We had about 4 inches of the white stuff. I shoveled the deck and blew the snow away from the deck as well as clearing a path to the wood shed. What little snow that remained on the driveway is melting.

Man that's some butt kicking temps coming your way. It's suppose to be in the 50's here come Saturday. After that we'll be highs in the thirties and lows in the teens and twenties. This will be our normal for the next couple of weeks.I think strong winds will increase the chill factor and more cold means more wood needed. Finally I can put my long johns on.
