I completely understand the "no will power" part, but I hope you give yourself a couple weeks. Even in that amount of time, I reckon your body will start feeling better. Good luck Sir.

Thanks, I definitely start this. I have noticed lately my joints kill me at times and I have always ate a high carb diet.

I'm going to try hard, harder than normal. Becoming a grandpa really changed my perspective.

It's more to lessen the arthritis. If I could move more without falling apart I could probably shed more weight.

You can do it, and it sounds like you have got to. First two weeks of getting off anything that is basically a junk carb is hard. Gets much easier. I considered the carnivore before trying keto, but was worried about cholesterol. The more I read, the more I want to try the carnivore. Other diets killed my energy. I walked between 8 and 13 miles a day usually carrying lumber or tools. My tool bags weigh a lot also. I need the energy to get me through the day. Too low of calorie diets leave me lazy and worthless. Good luck!

Every diet I've ever tried has the same effect on me, no energy. I eat as much meat as I want and I'm never low on energy anymore. If you do YouTube videos, watch Shawn Baker. He's extremely knowledgeable on carnivore.

I get it.... once I get to the shop I don't sit down until it's time to go home. No cardio just endless meandering all day.

Food tolerance wise you & I sound a lot alike. When I was 53 I was diagnosed with celiac disease. You might want to get tested. Then again you may not have full blown Celiac maybe just a low level gluten intolerance. And maybe nothing but when I read your post about potatoes, bread, sweets, etc. it sounded familiar. I think Marvin is on to something asking if you’ve ever tested for food sensitivities.

Interesting. Never heard of it before. I've noticed it for about a decade.

I'll have to talk with my Dr. Thanks for the insight. I appreciate it.

Lots of folks have luck with the starvation diet, errr I mean keto diet.

Battled with this most of my life, I was enormous in high school, lost over 150lbs freshman in college.

All I can pass on is everything in moderation, watch you portions, make good choices, and be active as much as you can. Walks, biking, light strength training, swimming, etc...

Not always about the # on the scale but if your eating healthy and feeling good, that's what's most important, focus on that.

Good ole weight watchers truly teaches portion control and making good choices and that's what it's all about. It's certainly a life altering change, you can have what you love but in moderation and make sacrifices to have it.

This may have been mentioned already, but keep an eye on your sleep habits. I struggle here as I only get between 5 to 6.5 hours a night on average. Sleep is critical when it comes to overall health.

If you're not sleeping well, your body is stressed. If your body is stressed, it stores fat as a protective mechanism. Yeah I know some of us can operate on very little sleep, but for most of us that will catch up to us eventually.

I don’t really feel like I get restful sleep anymore. I guess I just attributed it to aging. Got any pointers?:)

I'm certainly no expert as I struggle with this.

Obviously having as dark a room as possible that is cooler than the rest of the house helps.

I try to follow the 3, 2, 1 rule but usually fail. Don't eat 3 hours before bed, don't drink anything 2 hours before and no electronics 1 hour before bed.

Dim your lights or use candles a little before you want to go to bed.

Try to go to bed and wake up at the same time every night, even on weekends (I'm really bad at this)

I'm sure there are more but that's all I have right now. Full disclosure, I just turned 39 so haven't had to deal with some of the issues of aging I've heard about yet.

Have you ever done a sleep test? Maybe you could benefit from a c-pap. I have a friend (even younger than me) that has one. He says he can't even imagine sleeping without it anymore. It has been incredible for him.
