So far this season I've sold 23 cord. I have processed most of this myself. I usually don't sell that much, but I got a lot of dead logs off some job sites. I'll be cutting and splitting more tomorrow despite my thumb ( see work thread in everything off topic). Have yall seen an uptick in sales?

Not here, our sales are very low.....unfortunately.
I think there is too much wood available this year due to the bad storms last summer taking down a ton of trees.....just too much supply.

I’ve had an increase, but it came with an increase in marketing. I’m probably at the cutoff for being able to maintain a year to year 3yr dried oak inventory.

I've sold a whopping 2 cords this winter after selling ~12 last winter. I'm a casual seller and do it just to make room so I can continue to cut in winter. I don't burn as much as I process. There's a lot working against me though as a seller. It's been a pretty mild winter so far. I also have my stuff priced pretty high (although I've been told by numerous people it's the only dry stuff around). I also cut to 20-22" in length and split large. I've had two people come back this year that bought last year and both told me that they have to cut all of them shorter to be able to burn it in their appliance, but it was worth it to them because it was dry. Due to the size of my splits, I'm basically only catering to those who have OWB's or wood furnaces and a lot of those guys will burn anything. Most of my sales last year were to those who have conventional fireplaces or stoves/inserts. My wood is not sized optimally for the majority of those and they probably realized too late that the splits were big.

Yesterday I just decided to expand my wood yard. I was talking out loud to my other half and she enabled me by saying, "why can't you just stack it somewhere else". That's all it took. LOL So I should have the space now to put what I process for a few years. I'll have room for ~85 full cords now before I am "full". :) I -may- consider, down the road, cutting some of my stuff to 16" and splitting smaller, but for now I'm going to continue cutting/splitting how I prefer them and just sell what I sell.

Down here in Rock County I have no problems selling oak under 20%. I cut everything 16” and split it down to 3” to 6”.
Some of my customers want it longer/shorter and split larger/smaller but I stick to my guns cuz I’m a bull headed old man.

My repeat customers never complain and always come back because what I sell is dry and it’s “coaling wood” their term not mine. Unlike what a typical tree service around here that sells firewood on the side.

yeah, you are selling the sizes of splits most people seem to want. :)

Mine stuff is at EMC, as it's been c/s/s since early 2018.

Same here. I cut and split to fit my stove( about the same size as you) and that's what I sell. To much trouble to cut and split different sizes.

I have not sold any this year. It's cold, but has still been pretty warm compared to normal years. We have had a lot of sellers on fb selling fresh cut wood and punky/old wood. Prices are pretty high for that stuff, and I don't see why anyone would pay so much for fresh wood. I gave some to my brother, and he is burning on the weekends when he is home. He helped me haul about 4 cord home, and my rib was out so I couldn't load any, so he gets free wood this winter.

I have been trying to get a solid 3-5 year supply in place before I get serious about selling.

Typical year for me sales wise. Slow to start but almost all the regulars have got a load or two. Folks seem to like the fact i can only deliver half cord at a time and they have limited room. My CL ads have done very well much to my surprise. Sold most of my nuggets that way. I was kinda worried after losing four regulars last year but have picked up new ones this year. Bundle sales have been steady. One store seems to outsell the others two to one.
Having dry wood and giving customers a true half/full cord is key as we all know.

I have some long stacks, but they have not been drying for long enough. My longest stacks were made in 22-23, so they will be ready for sale in 25-26 and beyond.

Things were slow there for a while but I sold 13 cords in the last 5 days. That snow word in the forecast made some people think.

Around here you have to compete with the methheads. That dictates the price. They'll sell a facecord for just enough to get another hit.

Same here they keep the price of firewood suppressed.

We were busy early, all sheds are empty now. Got a few totes left. Some 16" cherry and pecan left. We cut mostly 18", but have a few customers that need 14"and 16". We accommodate. Totes make it easy.
Got a couple hunting camps that want wood, said they aren't picky......
Got some older oak logs we can discount a little and clean up the yard.
