Supposed to be-18f by next weekend. Still burning SS wood. Bit into the lodgepole as well as old hemlock. Brought in some primo Doug fir in prep for the end of shoulder season.
33 and raining reload with white oak Radars is showing ice in the counties north and west of me. WV and Ohio are getting the white stuff. Good luck boys and girls.
19 out. rediscovered the joys of drying off by the fire after a shower. And then a short walk out to the truck for a book I left in it overnight....with enough on not to get arrested, but not enough to prevent some kid from saying "Mommy, I didn't know they let those [large swimming mammals] out of the ocean". I love 4am, the anticipation of snow, hot coffee, doggo, and The Word to read.
24 degrees when I left for work at 1030 last night. Loaded the stove with big splits of red oak and ash. Just topped of the indoor woodbin friday afternoon with 1/4 cord of ash, red oak and black birch.
24/55 threw some mixed oak on a bed of coals to get downstairs up to speed before the wife wakes up and I head off to work
25/74. RO won’t let us get cold. Guess I’ll dig the snow blower out of the garage addition justin case.
It's been a relatively nice winter so far, but that's about to change. Sitting around -14C/7F so that's still way nicer than normal. Starting Wednesday here comes "winter" lol with -31C/-28F temps, and it only gets worse from there. Pine in the reactor.
Happy Saturday everyone! -2c/28f right now with light snow fall. We have a reload of larch and doug fir keeping the house toasty. Its scary how little snow we have in the Canadian Rockies and all the mountains in southern BC. Ive had snow on the ground consistently since sometime in November but that's only because we have kept just below freezing for our high so it hasnt had a chance to melt. I have about 6 inches of hard pack snow in my yard with trace amounts being added through the season. Our ice fishing season has been a slow start. Like many, our world is going to get colder. They were calling for -39c/-38f but have downgraded it to -32c/-25f thankfully. We will see what the weather guessers change it to as the days go on. Im hoping that we avoid deep cold. I loaded the garage with a weeks worth of splits last night and will dig out the extension cords for the block heaters today.
30/70. Burning hickory mostly with a few apple and oak chunks. I split wood this morning (bur oak) and wrapped it up just as the snow started at 14:30. We've got about 2" since then and it's peaceful out, supposed to snow all night. Wishing everyone a good evening.
34 and a mix of rain and snow, 71 in the living room. More pitch pine reloaded. And two small pieces of red oak that somehow showed up in the stack.
