I started using the cages from ibc totes a couple years ago. I mostly put short cutoffs or premium wood I don’t get much of like hickory. I have accumulated quite a few as I find them to be super handy. A guy on FB is getting out of the firewood business and had the 275 gallon ones for sale at $25 a piece. He’s about 40 minutes away. I borrowed a trailer from a buddy and in 2 trips was able to bring home 32 of them in a few hours today. This brings my total to 80 of them now. I’d like to get 100.

That’s a steal. Best price I’ve seen in this area is $55. Usually a bit higher.

Nice find. I imagine they work great with your set up.

Besides hickory and cherry what are your other premium woods?

Nice score...I run into a freebie now and again still...I can't use them, but my buddy can.

I am lucky, I am the safety manager at one of the beef plants in Dodge City. We have thousands of them stacked up at the plant. I can get as many as I want for free. I have only brought 12 home so far. I only use them for chunklies and for bookends on the stacks. If I had a tractor, I would stack all of my wood in them.

That’s why I made two trips. Initially was only going to make one.

Thought about that but by the time I carefully positioned them and strapped them all down, I figured the extra drive time was worth it.
