My wife has been battling something for a few days. Dry cough. Bit of sinus drainage. Nothing else. So far I haven't contracted it...

I think may have had/have separate things, not sure buy dry cough in both. Kid was fevery muscles aches, but turned into a snotty head cold towards the end. Husband so far is just aches and dry cough like your wife, he's been dosing ibu so not sure about the fever. Hoping you and I skate this one!

 looked out the window to see what doggie was staring at. Scared me for a second or two till I made sense of it. A white strip moving (I thought tp or a bag blew in and was blowing in the wind) under the tramp, then further out in lower light, like 6 pairs of black legs walking.

:picard:it was wild horses, holy cow the horses out here are huge! Roan horse with white blaze eating dead grass under the trampoline = white strip moving under the tramp, 3 other dark ones walking around looking for food = 6 black legs. Phew! Why would 3 guys wearing black pants be walking in my back yard lol.

I had to make peace with the fact I cannot landscape here, after great effort to care for the plants I really missed and wanted some here, Chvymn99 generously gifted me with ditch lilies and Iris They ate 3 years worth of growing them in this short growing season, pull them root and all and chomped them down in one single night a couple years ago. They eat everything, except the weeds that grow tall and have copper/rust colored seeds left that winter birds feed on all winter long . Grateful they've never been tangled up in the child swingset. Tried to get a pic, but when I cracked the slider door instead of a 3 reflection pic from triple pane the spooked and left.

    :faint:

Over the last week or so, occasionally I've heard a weird tink-tink sound - not loud, just enough to get my attention if the house is quiet and I'm in the living room. Thought it was just the mini split making an odd sound. Then one time Spot ran to the living room bay window ans started looking out, so I followed her. Weird, there is a house finch that is sitting on top of the storm door and occasionally pecking. All I can figure is it grabbed a seed and flew up there to eat out of the weather and away from all predators. It's the only one that does this.

    House finch on front door.jpg

At least it isn't a flicker - those are very loud when they peck and can/will peck thru siding and even metal strips.

We don’t have horses but the deer feed quite well here. Not too long ago I was getting ready to go to work one morning and something kept catching my eye out the living room window. Finally walked over and looked a big doe in the eye. She was up in the wife’s raised flowerbeds around the house eating all of the plants. She didn’t care I was on the other side of the window.

Early morning but after reading Horkn's post I'm tired out after all that work.

I took the family and went out for dinner and some Christmas light peeping the other night... after dinner my wife puts the address in her phone where we are headed, just to minimize driving around looking for the place (which it took us the long way anyways) and at one point on a residential side street (in a decent sized city!) we are driving along through a crowded older neighborhood...suddenly a deer crosses the road in front of us...no hurry at all, just meandering along, she kept looking back to the other side of the street, finally we seen there were 3 more in the front yard of a couple houses over there, grazing on anything/everything...she was waiting on them to follow...we would have tried for a pic, but it was dark/rainy/foggy, and another car came , so we took off. I've seen deer in town before, plenty of times, but not in a tight lil neighborhood like that...they almost seemed tame to an extent...I'd bet people put food out for them.

So far I'm good. Wife feels fine. Has the whole time except the dry cough and the drainage. Her Cough has lessened. It wasn't super bad but still annoying for her.

Well after 12 years the clothes dryer died..
since the washer was used 16 years ago.. figured replace them both (read wife likes them to match)

old dryer was propane; as previous owner; had a splice in wire for the electric dryer. Just plugged in a gas one into regular outlet

    so I bought 30 feet of 6 gauge 4 wire it’s $300! :jaw:

WOW $10 a foot! I called buddy electrican said yup that’s a good price

Well done for this year :faint:

    Isn't it crazy?!
I went to the hardware last night for a 240V 30A plug, they wanted $26.99! I like to support my local hardware store, but sorry guys, can't quite swallow that one!

Morning everybody. So frosty this morning it looks like a thin layer of snow on everything. My dad called snow the white curse. It wasn't until later in life, when watching the Band of Brothers series that I knew why. My dad was in the battle of the bulge in WWII. He hated winter till he passed.

Yeah, it was a bit of work. I thought about making a separate post, but figured I'd put it here.

It was, and thank you! I'm trying to get some stuff done while I have time off of work. Have to go back to work Tuesday the 2nd.
I told my buddy that owns the land and the toolcat what I did with the pics, and he said he was shocked that I was able to get all that done. The day we cut and hauled the stuff he said he took his dog and the ATV for a run in the woods and he was spent for the day.

It's all conditioning to be able to do this much work. I have found that after working out with a trainer a couple times a week, that I can do firewood work all day without much trouble and without taking Advil before I even get out the door.

At our work gym, the trainers had a set of holiday challenges. I signed up for the "farmer carry" challenge and destroyed the most highest score by nearly twice as much. A farmer carry is really like carrying a heavy piece of wood, except this was with a kettle bell in each hand. So naturally I knew I'd excel at this challenge.

After they put up my score, nobody else attempted to top it, lol.

Cooper has been stupid high priced for a while now. I'm happy that my dad left me a few rolls of wire for my detached garage that I'll be building at some point, hopefully by next year. Also have a good bit of copper piping, valves, elbows, etc and fixtures. I shouldn't need much in that regard . It'll definitely help out. With copper pricing the way it is now, is no wonder people use PEX.
