Agreed, the timber form looks like tulip poplar (dead straight) but the wood color/grain isn’t right and those don’t look like TP seeds hanging out in the canopy. That’s got to be basswood. Basswood seeds in winter:
Yup, and when that is split it has a greenish yellow tint to it...with a lil purple here n there sometimes
my most recent firewood haul/tree job. 2.5 loads of fire wood 1.5 loads of brush, one of which is absolutely stuffed. Got up in there with the chainsaw 5 times during loading to get it all to fit 18ft trailer with 2ft sides
Grabbed some of the deadfall today. Probably shouldn't have been in the woods. Its too muddy. Need the cold to freeze the ground up. I believe it would have been dang near impossible for the jeep to tug another load out in these conditions. Fun, but now have a mee to clean up.
Some people say my truck "is not a real truck" but it hauls everything I need. The lumber is all scrounged from a dumpster at work, and it burns great
Nice to see the Maverick earning it's keep. Fresh honey locust, a small amount of 7-year-old locust and some odds and end chunks.
Yep that's Yellow Poplar. Bark and heartwood is a dead giveaway, I don't even need to see the leaves.
