I was hoping you would jump in on that. I knew if anybody knew where it was, you would. I got it off FB. Someone mentioned it was on the way to or from FF. Spectacular view of the mountain.

I have to go to town tomorrow, pick up a couple things including pellets. Glad that is still installed. Roads were bad yesterday afternoon, high in the 20's without sun today so I'm waiting.

    Interesting chain of events here.

Before we had the spell of overnight temps of above freezing, there was enough ice formed on the lake for people to begin ice fishing. Of course, it involved driving an ATV or Snowmobile while dragging a sled every morning and again every evening. Most were portable ice tents. However, 2 were ice shacks. You know, the type that is constructed onto skids and left out on the ice?

Well, the overnights began to stay above freezing with their temps. In just a few days time, the ice around the shoreline of the lake was all melted.

Which meant that when the snowmo or ATV got onto the ice sheet, it had to got through some water and then crawl up onto the ice.

All this was happening while the ice may have been thick enough for such traffic (which it obviously was) but there is no way to tell if the ice is consistently thick and safe due to underwater currents springs etc. No way would I get out on the ice during the "early fisherman days".

After a few nights of overnight temps in the 40's, the ice fishing came to a screeching halt. Trouble is, there were those 2 ice shacks still out there on the "ice".

Yesterday morning, a house guest and I walked down to the shoreline and looked at all the black cracked slushy "ice" and the open water all along the shoreline. You could still see the 2 shacks.......on top of the ice. Three hours later, one shack was completely gone from view and another was about 1/2 submerged.

Can you say grandma's house that's hardly been touched in 40 years?

But....I see the potential. Yes, I see lots of potential. And only 80K bucks.

Well poo, I just found a couple red drips in the snow, I assume they dripped off as I parked. Google thinks it's transmission fluid

I am amazed every year what folks will do. From the bay by Escanaba to the bay by Saginaw; the same thing every year.

Update on the partially submerged ice shack:

Looked like a team of 4 people (maybe 5) were out there most of the day and not only got it raised to the ice but also dragged it off the ice! I'll bet there was a lot of pucker factor going on with that team!!!!!
