    Hello!

New to this forum and glad to be here. Been cutting, splitting, and heating with wood for 45 years.

I like heating with wood and am in the process of prepairing a Craft 4830 for use in my house. The fire place is in the walk in basement.
I found an almost unused one on FB marketplace for $200. Right now I'm fabricating a steel "transition" piece to go on the rectangle opening at the back of the unit. I have a SS chimney liner ordered and on the way. Im also making a few mods to be able to use the unit to blow hot air into the ductwork to heat the entire house. The original owner had the house built to accomodate this, and heated this house for many years untill he got to old to deal with handling the wood.

I have a bigger cfm blower and have designed a way to duct it into the unit. It should work great.

I'll post up pics as this project progresses.

Thanks for letting me join yall! I appreciate it.

:handshake: You’ll love it here Hashknife.
I’ve only been using wood for heat for the past 13 years but I grew up with it. Looking forward to your pics.

Here is the Craft 4830 after unloading it at my house. It appears to be a "low mileage" unit.

Built in Gastonia, NC in 1983.

    Basically yes.

I removed the stock blower unit. It is not big enough to push air into my house ductwork.
The 6" holes allow a 6" duct to be connected to a higher CFM blower that will move enough air. The air will circulate around the stove and go out the other side into 6" ductwork that will go into an existing 6" hole in the house ductwork.

Got the transition welded up and the chimney liner "stinger" mounted.
The chimney liner was delivered earlier this morning.
