....And I'm hidden in the woods on a dead end road....

If you have road exposure and set up the mill where it can be seen from the road.....watch out! everybody and his uncle will be stopping by to talk logs and lumber.... before you know it you'll be buried.

No, this will not be set-up where anyone can see it, but I prefer it that way.

Common questions I always get asked. How long can you cut and what diameter can you cut.

On a manual mill and by myself I don't like those big ones.

Yup, those are always the first two questions.
I tell folks it's not what I CAN do, but I WANT to do....lol

I've always hated milling big / oversized logs, even when I ran a fully hydraulic mill.

Yeah this HM126 cuts up to 26" logs. I kind of think that is big enough. Although I probably could, is the juice worth the squeeze?

I don't think you will regret it.

Just a couple things that come to mind.

When you set it up get it up on some blocks of some sort , it will make running it easier and also allow you to clean out under it much easier.
and take your time setting it up , the extra time taken to be sure everything is square and level will help you in the end.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Thank you! I am just going to make a rail of of pressure treated 6x6's and do it right the first time. Put it up off the ground about mid thigh height. I want to get it set up ONCE the right way.

    Good plan!
That's a good height for the mill, you certainly don't want to be bending over all day to handle logs & lumber.

Good deal. It will help you in the end.
Make enough time to do it right the first time. you have some work ahead of you but with that comes a lot of fun with some rewards as well.
You will be amazed with what the possibilities are

Well the wintery mix has my mill install on hold. Mill is mostly together in the shop, I have the pressure treated for the base and my spot is leveled. Just need to get some gravel in there so I can proceed. Not looking good for the rest of the week. I AM READY TO MAKE SAWDUST!!

Sorry about the weather holding you back.... that stinks!

I wouldn't bother with much if any gravel anywhere except the log loading area because everything will be nicely covered in sawdust shortly.....unless it's just too slimy to work there during setup.
I just hate to bury good rock with sawdust....
