I'm late posting this, it got down to 17* last night. Throughout the day and night yesterday we had a string of snow flurries coming through. We got about 2" of powder, everything looks nice. Burning the bottom of the wood box assortment, kinda like those Christmas chocolates you get. Then time to refill the wood box. I don't think it will be break freezing today.
45F @ 7PM. Dropping to around freezing tonight in northeast Georgia. Been low 30s/ mid 50s all week. Burning a mixture of white and red oak.
Still sitting in strange world here, a few degrees above freezing all day with no snow to speak of. Pine chunks idling along. It's funny looking at all the frozen sloughs here with bare ice. Would have been great to be that way when I was a kid. I actually didn't mind skating back then, but who the heck wants to go shovel a foot of hard pack snow before you can even skate? Then you get looked at like a dummy for never using the skates you got for X-mas.
That happened to me a lot. But when you got those really rare nights when the lake was safe with no snow, and under a full moon, skating was awesome. I t was like day time almost, we knew all stream inlets and outlets cause we fished and hunting so none of us kids had an issue. But the guys in the shacks drinking would come out and wipe out on their sleds doing donuts. It just added to the fun.
Still 40 outside. 70 inside. Overnight low will be above freezing. Tomorrow will have rain as well as Saturday. Should knock down all the snow that is here so far.
28F/49F Here in Western PA. Silver Maple, Walnut, and a smattering of Cherry and Red Oak. But mostly Maple and Walnut in the old Intrepid. Mildest winter through December in quite a while I think.
37/70 The 37 is the lowest temp we've had today so far. Glad the temps weren't below freezing because the rain we got would all be snow !!
42f with, all day, sprinkles. Talking wet conditions tomorrow so may be no firewood made this weekend. Will need to try and work on the liftgate instead.
