Welcome to the club TnMan . Lots of great folks here sharing knowledge and humor as you can see already. We live to help you spend...err...invest your on toys...err...tools for the wood hoarding addiction. I only had 2 saws when I joined, got 8 now, and 4 ported by huskihl ...he puts Xtra sausage in there...sure makes them run stronger...
I'm not a Stihl feller, but the old bars are 100% more aesthetic to my eyes. I'll even go as far as saying that 'Rollomatic' is iconic.
Me neither and I agree on both replies. They kinda give me that Miami Vice vibe. Sand off that paint and apply Super Blue. I've done it to a couple bars that I acquired. Warmed it up on the wood stove and wiped on. Looks cool when finished and the look lasts. 28" was blued couple years ago.
I'd prefer the Stihl bars to be matte black and read Stihl in orange. Like a cannon bar. The new graphics are cartoonish and I don't like the white either. Heck, id prefer the saws not have white on them for that matter. Lol
The white plastics on Stihls and the grey that Echo used to use just don't age too well with use and end up looking drity no matter how much you clean them. When I see a 'white' painted bar, whether from 2 foot or 1/8th mile away...I know it's a Stihl bar (and probably mounted to a Stihl saw). That's what marketing is supposed to do.
Sounds like the general consensus is they look dumb.....I think I'm going to get setup to paint the new stihl bars to look like they have forever.....probably money in it....lol.
Agree on the plastic color looking dirty with age. I never thought about the bar as a stand out marketing tool. Most normal saw owners just keep buying the factory bars too it seems.
I’m still seeing the black and white ES lights on the market. If the strong x is just as light it’s not a deal breaker.
Stahls was literally 6 minutes off my route today so I stopped in to get some presets. Picked up 2 wedges and he said the presets were free. Couple really nice saws in there… . I didn’t ask about price. I know they’re outta my range, lol.
Oh yeah. Couple good ol boys. Not much of a "showroom" but they probably have what you need, unless that's a wood handle axe/hatchet etc. I wanted to get one for my son but no dice. Then I see a really nice Collins at the Mennonite owned hardware store for $35. Should have bought it.. next time.
Hey guys, just found this little gem on a local buy n sell. I don't know anything about these, but what the heck, only out $20 Canadian pesos Homelite xl? 26 cc top handle saw. Guy said it had sat 2-3 years at least, and the murky old fuel that poured out tells me he's right about that. So far all I know is it pulls 145 psi on a comp test, top of piston is still clean, and I'm guessing a carb job and fuel line replacement are 100% needed. I'll test for spark later.
