It felt lighter than I expected it would. Seen it in a pawn shop, did NOT buy it but was tempted. I don’t know enough about stills to know if it was a good price or not, seemed like it was reasonable price, a little dirty, but not terribly beat up. Compression seemed really good
What’s a fair price for one in average condition?

Fair condition, I'd say 600 bucks. I guess it depends on the buyer as always. Not sure what they go for now, but I bought one with a wrap handle and 28 inch bar for 1300 3 or 4 years ago.

It is a light saw. Most of the used ones ive seen on FBM look practically new and are priced over a $1000. IIRC ive only seen one well used one offered and dont recall the asking price.

How used was it? How much paint left on the bar? What were they asking for it?

I want Husqvarna to introduce a fuel injected saw. I've ran a 500I, and they are pretty sweet.

Do you think that will happen? Why not just buy the 500 or are you that loyal to Husky?

Some pawn shop owners wont budge whereas others like to keep inventory moving. My guess is he researched selling prices and added a percentage to his price. I drove nearly two hours to buy my 201 top handle and it was so close to new there was almost no sawdust inside and i got it for nearly half the price of a new one at the time.

Price was marked $1149, had I been seriously interested, I was thinking about an offer of $1ooo all in and out the door.
First time I’ve ever seen one in real life. I was in the “local” place the other day that sells Stihl and Husqvarna, they didn’t have a 500 or a 400. They did however have a pair of top handle 201c’s on the used rack

It’s really the only outdoor power/small engine place around here that sells and repairs as far as I know. And they have never impressed me much, although that’s where I got my second 357 in a G model awhile back.
I’ll probably never do much business with them as I know where to get any parts I might need and have the skills to work on stuff myself.
I usually just stop in and look at the used saw rack when I get a chance and the wife isn’t with me

I burn all my receipts as soon as I get home.
Figured for the price I better get some extra BTU's from the paper trail.

+ I have the wrap handle.

I'd love to fondle one for a few cuts.

Is it safe to assume that Husky's next generation will have some variant of fuel injection (beyond the autotune)? I don't see Echo going to electronic fueling if they can get away with it.

Orrrr...are we seing the pinnacle with gasoline and all of them are working on some battery backpack stuff?

Im thinking battery will be the new thing. Gas OPE will go the way of the dinosaur. Just mt 2c

Id like to see Stihl make all their gas saw EFI though.

If you get a chance try a 500 out even if you are a Husky fan.

I had a couple early not so impressive encounters with Stihls that got me gunshy about them. It was unfounded as they were abused homeowner saws, but by the time I had enough knowledge to understand this, I had already gone Swedish and Japanese. I just want to see what all the buzz is about. I could never justify the money I'd have to lay out for a 500. Buying a relatively 'cheap' Makita 80cc nearly did me in mentally & emotionally.

Just the opposite here. My first saw was a puny Homelite top handle. When i was a senior in high school my late uncle bought me my first Stihl. An 028s. Great firewood saw at 52cc's Always started on the fourth pull. Run on raw gad by accident and ruined. Bought my 026 then years later my 290 (now sold).
Once i joined this group i was doomed!  :saw: :makeitrain"
