Very disappointed that there seemed to be no mention of this today. I reminded a banker while conducting business and all I got was "I knew it was somewhere around this time of the year; I never liked history."

No mention of it on the radio, none of the TV news that I watched, and sad to say that newspapers are pretty much on the endangered to extinct list.

    Sad.

It's an important day for my family. My grandfather was a pilot and signed up the next day for the Army Air Corps. He died the following June when his plane crashed. My dad was only 5 at the time and it changed his whole life. He worked from a young age and taught us the same work ethic. Dec 7th never goes by without some stories from that time.

Yes sir, it is a sad situation that so much of our society is bent on disregarding more and more of history. Especially sad when it involves the historical destruction of those who gave there all for the protection of our freedom and rights. I can only imagine how bad it will be 10 years from now.

I knew today was “a day that would live in infamy!”
all day. I work with two newer Navy vets. Plus, my grandfather (Army) went to France not long after the attack.

It was brought up on the local oldies station today as well.

I was born 6 years after the Pearl Harbor attack. I don't remember it constantly being talked about as I was growing up. I learned about it in history but the country wasn't as obsessed about it as it is about 9-11. Seems the country accepted what happened, and dealt with it, and got on with life. I guess that is why it is called the Greatest Generation.:usa::usa::usa:

Our retired Pastor quotes his mother - Learn from the mistakes of others so you don't make the same mistakes.

Disregarding history means that the same misguided decisions will be made again.

There were multiple mentions of it on different news channels, local and national.

Certainly a day that always resonates with me along with D-Day, however there are so many other's worth recognizing as well.

My father always honored those days while growing up. Not that I could ever forget Pearl Harbor but Dec 7th is also my son's birthday.

    Never forget.

My late father and uncles were all WW2 vets and spoke of the war often. Apparently there is one survivor left from the Arizona.

I didnt see any specials on it last night on TV. Usually the History channel has something.

I feel like this is one of the most under-rated aspects of what happened after the Pearl Harbor attack and any war our country has been involved in. To think so many of these young men that sacrificed their lives at the young age of 18-20 for us to enjoy the liberties we take for granted is surreal. I can't even imagine what my thought process would have been if I was thrust into that situation at that age. It is humbling to think about to say the least.

The sad reality is so many of them that were lost will never receive the recognition they deserve for doing so. I just hope I can instill enough character in my children to appreciate the luxuries they have because of the courage of our veterans both past and present. We truly are standing on the shoulders of giants.

^^This --> I try to talk to my kids often about it, I don't want to beat them over the head or turn them off but I want them to try and understand the sacrifices made, how many hero's we lost, how many parents lost so many of their kids.

So many willing volunteered out of the love and protection of our country, I have nothing but eternal and immense respect for them all.

Only 6 known survivors that were military and at the attack. Sad to see the generation that saved the world and this country is all but gone. I remember growing up and knowing WW2 vets and not at that time understanding how important they were and still are.
