Hello everyone. Do any of you have a recommendation for a good moisture meter for firewood? I purchased a cheap Amazon one (Chinese garbage) a couple of years ago and naturally it no longer works.

Am I correct in staying away from the pinless ones?

    Thanks in advance.

This pin one has been working fine for me for a while now. Can’t say how it compares to others though. Before it, I had a cheapie horror freight one that crapped out pretty quick.

If you buy a good pinless one, they are good. Good pinless ones are used for measuring the MC on boards for woodworking. I have a couple moisture meters and the best one I have is the DR Meter pinless one. I do like the Ryobi one(ES3000) that uses a headphone jack on a phone, but most phones unfortunately don't have headphone jacks anymore. That one was nice because you could take a screenshot of the moisture content and save that for reference for later.

I bought the same Tavool pictured above as my first MM a few years ago and it still works great. I think it cost around $20.
