I posted an ad on CL back in October as i had around five cords of the darn things. I get a hit in three days and have had 7-8 sales from it. One guy wanted full length splits and i was able to accomodate.

I priced them $5 less than a half cord of regular 16" splits to move them thinking they wont sell as last year i seemingly couldnt give them away.

I used to have regulars for them but they now want full length splits. Ive almost refilled a one cord bin with fresh nuggets and have 2.5 cords on hand plus some shorts to process yet. One is BL for a regular who should be calling anytime now for his delivery. Now worried about having enough for next year!:picard:

    I thought the same thing.

Chevy guy here but that has nothing to do with it , just a good looking truck regardless of what badge it is wearing.

Good looking load. Elm is one of those woods that garner lots of comments. Mainly about the difficulty to split.

See, told you so. I think when split and seasoned, it does throw good BTU's though.

NortheastAl - "Three kinds of wood I hate are Elm, Elm and Elm. And in that order!"
Sawdog - "Elm just sucks to split . Period. No matter what the temperature is."
MAF143 - "I avoid Elm and I have hydraulics... like tearing through a fiberglass reinforced cotton ball using the whole stroke of the splitter... Slow going and aggravating."
savemoney - "I don't know anybody around here that will work up elm. Too hard to split. Usually ends up at the dump."
    - "Elm is horrid. No one I know around here will bother with it at all.
buZZsaw BRAD - "you need dynamite to split green elm."
krag - "Only splitting job I ever refused was a pile of elm that my Supersplit was no good on, like kryptonite for it."
Mag Craft - "One other point. I hate splitting elm"

If it's a pain, just use the saw to cut rounds to size. Much less aggravating. From what I learned in this group, it can be regional and possibly connected to mineral content in the ground.
