    Look at the first picture. That's him coming in from the back, towards the hinge. So face cut, and intended and actual direction of fall, was to the left of that pic.

    I've seen a huge pine tree roll off the stump, spin around 180 degrees and go the opposite way of intended.
    If I didn't see it I wouldn't believe it. Hinge looked fairly even.

    I've had one go the wrong way on me a little bit but I was cutting a 23 inch trunk with a 16" bar. Crappy hinge.
