Started the fire little earlier than planned today. Just happy there is no wind associated with the temp!

Last night I got around to taking out 2 of the 3 dampers i had in the stove pipe from when this stove would run away. Swept chimney.
Seems to be way easier to dial in the burn now with just 1 damper. IMG_20231202_060815.jpg

A damp 35 F. Wood gun went out last night because of such a long time between calls for heat. Black goo turned on. :picard:Hardwood mix now going, and will soon take back over.

Two below zero in Canada temps. Still got so much SS wood to burn. I was almost out in the spring and I cut a 3 year supply. Fir bark every day after work. Winter isn’t in the forecast yet for at least two weeks. I got the chains on the backhoe and the blower on the 448 case gt so I’m ready. We might get a skiff here in the next couple hours.

39/69. I'm having one small fire each morning to shake the chill. Days are still getting into the 50-60 range. Red oak and hickory.

I started out this morning burning cherry and white oak but let the fire go out midday as temperatures hit the low 50s. It’s down to 44 now so I’ve got one split each of the following chugging along in the Lopi: white pine, white oak, apple and a leftover piece of sugar maple from last year’s stash.

50/73 have some cherry and found a few stragglers of poplar. Hadn't reloaded this morning which was a good call. Got to 55 today. 44 overnight so don't need a lot of heat. Cold coming back mid week.

Got the liftgate unloaded and in the garage for now. Plan is to work on sanding, do what I can with the rust and paint it with PUR15. Can't decide between "Top Coat" or ""2K Urethane". Misc. wood in the stove and toasty warm. Screenshot_20231202_215110_WeatherBug.jpg

    Currently 20 F degrees and snowing. 75 F inside.

Currently burning Elm and Lodgepole Pine in the Oslo - which is a surprisingly HOT burning combo.

I have had zero sense of taste or smell since I woke up this morning, which is a bit unsettling. But I feel fine otherwise :picard:

    Stay warm!

    Love, Cash

The new covid strain is more of a cold/upper respitory infection. The wife currently has it and tested positive. I likely had it a few about 5 days prior. Felt like crap and super tired like a regular cold the day before symptoms and first day then just the usual congestion and coughing.

Think this cold is going around. Started feeling it on Thanksgiving. It took me out last weekend. Couldn't even work. Still not 100% on day 10

Happened to me Monday after Thanksgiving either last year or the year before. Lasted for a week but felt fine otherwise. Very strange to not taste anything. Never got test so not positive if it was Covid or not. Funny part spent Thanksgiving with brother and family. To my knowledge, no one else got sick.

47, calling for steady rain. Let fire go out last night. This morning clewned the glass, emptied the ash pan. Ash and black cherry for the day.

I still feel fine other than a complete lack of taste or smell. I took a covid test before leaving for work this morning. The test was positive. So I called in sick. It’s a weird moral dilemma, but probably the right thing to do.

Currently snowing lightly. Burning Ponderosa and Ash.

    22f outside. 74f inside.
