The 'Bota won't pick up a full tote of green wood either, especially the 330 gal. We stack it about 3/4 full, move to drying spot, and finish stacking. Then on goes the lid.
I went to pick up a 330 gallon tote yesterday that was heaping with fresh oak. The 1070 JD would only get it about 2 feet off the ground but it got it done.
The beauty of this plan is that you always deliver them green wood. Imagine that…..no stacking, no wood taking up room at your place. We can all dream right?
Ive only done that a couple times. Sold a guy several half cords of fresh cut red oak rounds. I cut them three houses up from him and stacked in his yard. He is the one who offered me wood storage and a few cords of my BL is stored there. Convenient as its 1/4 mile down the street from me.
What a busy day Friday was. Got off work, grabbed some breakfast and was loading the truck by 7:30AM. Had the 1st load ready by the time Miz Carol got home from taking grandsons to school. Called the guy, he was going to be on a work call for awhile, so we hooked up the trailer and loaded a tote, decided to make 2 deliveries in town... Started raining on the way home, took a nap break. Rain moved out, but I was gonna be working solo... Move the conveyor to this shed and use the dump trailer... Measure the stack, takes about 5.5-6' of a row to make .33-.35 cord. ... Was able to make the original delivery in the afternoon And had time for the final load about 5:30PM Don't think we've ever done 4 loads in a day...didn't have a problem last night...
Four is a lot for a day. Good on you folks for gettin' it done. I know ive done three but dont recall four. Possibly a bundle delivery in the mix if so. Got a couple deliveries today myself and a bundle order if im feeling motivated enough.
Thanks, my friend. Having 1 load in a tote and using the conveyor was the only way we got this done. 3 were local 3-12 miles, the longest was about 35 miles, I figured in a delivery charge, he gave a tip on top of that...
Didn't get much done Saturday morning, lite rain off and on. Took several totes and upgraded the screws in the hinges and latches. Had used #8 screws, in moving totes, several had broken, went to a #14 size. Some of the totes had the 3/4 conduit couplings for latches, swapped those out to the 1" conduit latches we made, cut those 3" long, works better. Did get the last 2 totes prepped for chunks/kindling...
Usually just the mower deck but that’s off this time of year. It will lift the back tires right off the ground with nothing attached to the back.
T.Jeff Veal, you and miz Carol are an inspiration.. Keep it up.. we have had snow since thanksgiving So more burning than going on here…
End of the year update... We delivered several more loads...14", 16" and 18" splits. Took down a couple multi- stem Bradford pears for a friend... That clump was leaning heavy over the driveway and pump house... A good notch and push from his JD, got it down safely... They got a nice pile of wood, we'll bring the splitter over 1 day and split the big pieces. Been working on the smaller oaks we got from the campground, making some totes of 14" splits for next year, we have 3 folks that use this size.
