Aparently at some point last year my woodstove got a little bit warm lol, I did my best to fix it. Quite a bit of warping and thought I could heat it up and hammer back to shape but it wasn't going well so had to crop out a bit and weld up a couple cracks as well. We'll see how it holds up this year, lit the first test fire this afternoon and got some ghost flames rolling so hoping all is well! Enjoy the pics at my expense
That makes me ! How hot do you usually run your stove? When my AS 2 stove top therms get around 400, that's warm enough for me me, I prefer around 300-325. That has a lot to do with the size of the room, which is a bit confined from the rest of the house air flow wise. I think I got close to 500 one time and was . It's supposed to get down to 18-19 degrees in a night or two, we'll see what feels good then....
I don't usually run by stt, have a cat probe and flue temp, but just get it up to temp and set it 2 clicks below 1. I have hit 700 stt twice accidentally on startup when not paying attention, I believe the book says do not go over 700, but I found it right at 700 (at hottest point) where it was only there for mere seconds before bringing it down. I would assume it was one of those 2 instances, so definitely stay away from that 700⁰ mark They do have good service, I had to warranty a cat after a year and a half, this is my 3rd season with it. I could probably have them fix it but the cost to ship both ways and repairs I'd rather get something else because it hasn't been my favorite stove. However after repairs and new gaskets it runs better than it ever has even when new and I'm actually starting to like it
