Now that jbsawman has got rid of his sawmill we are onto the next project firewood …we have been running all types of systems to do it filling crates, filling bags, stacking sheds, stacking in a single line, whatever method we do is based on where the logs are located and other things like ground conditions here are some pictures from the last two weeks where we were cutting and splitting..today was alot of filthy black locust logs that had been sitting for 4 years… i used ahalf round(I believe its called) profile oregon chain for this and it worked very well..john was pre splitting all the big rounds with a skid loader with splitter attachment in between cutting i stacked pre splits
Sure is a whole lotta firewood. Yeah...BL can be messy with loose bark and that black schmutz under it. I cut a lot like that. Nice when the bark has fallen off and mother nature has cleaned it off nicely. Cant beat it for the shelf life though.
Yes !! muddy but I was getting around pretty good RickyBlazin is a great help as I am still recovering from some complications from my hip replacement but it gets better each day what he did not show was a clearing contractor dropped 2 tri axle loads of logs for free just to get rid of them I will post a picture later a lot of hickory and red oak so we have a good amount of wood to keep us busy JB
A little bit of heaven right here on earth. Beautiful stuff. Dont be afraid to toss all that black locust bark in the mud. Works great. I even go so far as to try to get the sawdust blowing into the muddy areas when I buck. Usually cut most of the way through a log while it’s suspended in the log arch. Been known to make an extra stop and cut into a mud hole then back up further to the splitter and drop the log. Make use of what ya got is my mantra.
No I do not sell firewood anymore we use it all my shop has one of the clayton (Us stove) hot air furnaces which burns a lot of wood and I have the outdoor boiler and Ricky Blazin has a small stove
