This is kinda a test run for pics. Still goes above freezing every day. That’s not normal for here. I hope it stays that way. Old man winter has sorta sodomiciized my woodpile for the last several years in March and April.
15/73 I'm chilled, will be happy when fans I ordered to displace some cool air arrive. No wind which is weird, winter usually arrives late early Oct., this year mid Nov. Love it but the lack of wind feels weird. We were forecasted to get a couple inches of snow but so far just sparce flakes.
Northeast Pennsylvania, going down to low 20s tonight. It's going to be a cold one at the state semifinal football game tonight. Hopefully the Dallas Mountaineers will pull off a win and advance. They are 13-0 so far. Only 7 teams in the state can say that. Also Saturday starts the rifle deer season, and my son and I will be out. Anyway, low 20s for the next couple of nights, I have maple, oak, reserve locust and ash from a bunch of trees I had dropped 2 years ago. It is amazingly heavy wood, some of the heaviest ash i ever had. My son thought it was oak when we were filling the bin. The bin was filled as of last week.
15f at 6am and what looks to be 4” of snow overnight. I was contemplating driving up to Valentine (67 miles) for some BLACK FRIDAY Milwaukee tools. But I’m getting older and more cautious, so I don’t think I need to be out on the highway for just that. Besides I gots snow to move when it quits
Some of us prefer being warm. The older I get the more I appreciate it and the cold comes on much quicker. Then I think back to when I rarely wore a coat and the more snow the better I liked it.
38/74 came in from sitting in the blind, no luck and cold. Two ugly splits, one of ash and one of cherry.
15 degrees outside and snowing again. 74 degrees inside. Burning Doug Fir in the Jotul, Ponderosa in the Lopi - and Heartland pellets in the P43. Stay warm, friends! Love, Cash
Been raw all day long... hanging around 35 currently started out at 25... Kept a fire going all day long...
Similar here, went up to 14* as the high, grateful no wind though Chickens are staying in the coop-hope they come out to eat and drink before sunset.
Dunno yet. Stovetope temps without it were 700 to 750 usually. Kinda high for my comfort. Usually the plate is 450 in peak burn now. It gets hot enough that it has turned blue in the center. I would guess that this plate is around 50lbs or so. The few times I've checked it on reloads it's been well into the 200s after 12 to 15hr burns. This plate cost me 53$. In my book it's money well spent
32/72 heading down to 24 overnight. Have cherry and oak in the Buck. Sugar maple and oak on deck for overnight.
13°F and dropping..... Hearthstone Heritage running nice and got most of my wood for this year moved under cover.
Tuned the furnace on when we left for the day to go to our sons place for Thanksgiving. We got home around 2:30 today and the first order of business was get the stove fired up. Nice to have dependable backup but much nicer to not have to use it. Getting close to finishing up my shoulder wood for the year.
